google showed a light bulb icon in top area to highlight it. didn't take screenshot at the time. it disappeared after a while and the option is now accessible only from the dropdown menu.
 
i don't; even have the settings icon that u have, may b u installed an extension? idk...
 

yes. rollout might be wide now so more folks might see it in coming days. especially considering an official support document exists as linked above.

Dark mode is the best thing that happened to apps, web, and phones.

Mine looks like this, still no icon.

nah. it's a typical google mess that would take a while to get fixed. image search results are harder to read. and it also mess up a bunch of other sections on google search interface.

on shopping section for instance, it switches to weird gray color.

I could image, a single app takes forever to become dark mode and doing this on Google can be a huge problem. Hopefully this will get stable in upcoming months.
 
idk why google has even this shopping tab, we know our shopping websites, this needs to be get away with just coz they prolly use affiliates to earn $$. They don't even give us the option to re-arrange tabs like search image news etc..

Flights, books, shopping, finance are all useless and if you are gonna include them, atleast give us the damn option to disable it it or may be re arrange it or hide it as per our prefrences..
 
a proper shopping tab would be useful. they are already rolling out deals and price tracking on search results. as you mentioned, the revenue from affiliate is much more than simple ad clicks. they already probably make a lot from the right side box on search result pages. once they have shopping tab sorted out, it's game over for a lot of websites that provide the same service.
