Tata Sky could soon launch a new smart security camera exclusively for existing Tata Sky users for Rs 99 per month. Users opting for this service will get a 1080p FHD smart camera with 8x digital zoom, 111 degrees wide-angle lens and 2.8mm focal length. For night vision, the security camera will have four infrared LEDs, an F2.0 aperture and an IR-CUT filter that gives visibility up to 30 feet in the darkness.

The device is also said to have smart detection, customised zone detection, and sensitivity settings so that users can control the kind of events they want to be notified about.

A 12-second video will be recorded on motion detection and stored in the cloud for 7 days which can be downloaded via the Tata Sky Secure app. It supports up to 32GB of external storage however the SD card is not included. Once the storage is full, old files are overwritten.

The Tata Sky Secure weighs 109g and comes with a 1-year warranty. It can work both online and offline but in offline mode, features like live feed, smart alerts won’t work and recording will be stored in local storage. There is no battery so it needs to be connected with a power source all the time.

99 rupees per month and they are not even going to store the data for a month. not to mention the one year warranty. for a product that has a subscription, it should have lifetime warranty.

These fellows cannot provide static IPv4 even if customers are willing to pay and they talk about giving CCTV cameras. Apart from not being able to watch my Hikvision cameras after taking Tata Sky Broadband, the troubles of CG-NAT are real. Sites ask me to solve captchas every now and then. I am using Tailscale with static route and node, but for that I have to keep that PC up 24x7 and use the VPN app. It’s a terrible inconvenience.

When asked they say we are giving you free IPv6 static IP. But it doesn’t help jack squat if the device accessing it does not have IPv6 as well.
