Yesterday, i got 250Mbps connection from ACT. I registered for new connection in the evening, and got in installed by 7-8 p.m. Since, I got it installed, i never got the promised speed. It varies a lot. ex: Download Upload
50 160
200+ 200+
130 294
and all this infuriates me, I got ACT, as i have heared of them being "PROFESSIONALS" and no other good ISP is here , in my area. I messaged their Man with speed screenshots. And he said 'My connection is not fully activate, it will be in 2 hrs'. This feels like a pure lie. Since, i sometimes get 200+, what are the restriction then? that my speed will vary a lot? this is what ACT do before they are done with all the activation process? And i can't comprehend what other activation is needed.

My friend who got excitel a month ago, always has half my ping. if i have 30ms, he has 15ms. if i get 198ms on singapore servers, he has 81. With a plan of 200Mbps, he is always near 250Mbps. I am not asking for more than the rated, but all this has hurt my trust in ACT. Sadly, my area still doesn't have excitel. At first i wanted to get excitel, but as I said, they don't have line in my area.
I paid for this expensive ISP thinking, i will be stress free from all the poor quality shit. and get premium service, like their premium price.

If you paid advance amount for long term plan then let this be a lesson to all.

Are you checking speed on wifi or ethernet?

Where are you checking speed? Which website? Try different options like speedtest.net and fast.com etc?

UPDATE: So, ACT guy called me and tried to figure out the issue. on my laptop, it didn't go beyond 100 or something. Then I suggested, that we should try lan. And damn, the shit was fast, 248 download ~260 Upload. then he said to get some other 5G band supporting phone(as mine is old, it supports 5G band but only upto 110 Mbps). So i got my neighbours phone, and on her, I got ~230-245 download and around 60 upload. I was baffled with all this weird shit, with download and upload speeds. But, Since, on Lan everything was upto the mark. So, I cannot balme ACT now. He said, maybe i have some driver issue with my laptop or maybe hardware. Well this is possible.

And i am quite relieved that "APNA HE SIKKA KHAUTA HAI". Now all the frustation and stress is gone. I will do speed check on my brother's phone, when he will get home, in the evening.

@vishalrao . i was using speedtest.net, fast.com. Yesterday, this also came to my mind, that maybe its window issue. So, i booted into Ubuntu. and things were a lot faster there. But still unstable. I even used Android studiio download as benchmark. it got to 25MBps on ubuntu. And significantly less onwindows. And also, 25MBps was on mozilla, was getting less in google chrome in ubuntu. weird shit

Now, i will try to reinstall the driver on my laptop. Will see, if it fixes the issue. i always get a links speed of 433 on my laptop.
We, will see. will try on brother's phone. i did try it on my fathers phone yesterday, at that tim also, it was unstable.
Maybe,a l this shows, how every hardware reacts differently. this is the first time we are using this much high speed, our fking hardware is used to 50Mbps xD.

But I expected more from ACT, my friend who lives around 14-15 km from here, in burari. has excitel connection. His ping on every thing is always half of mine. ex: Call of duty Mobile: his - 10-20ms (varies every second), mine-30-33ms(is mostly stable)
first singapore server that comes on Speedtest.net: his-81ms , mine: 191ms

All I can say, Wireless is shit. All hail the copper.
Will keep this thread updated

On ACT fibernet, It is like this -- Either you get full speeds or very less speeds due to various reasons.. Rest of it could be due to your router or hardware limitations.

Glad, issues are now resolved.

If you paid advance amount for long term plan then let this be a lesson to all.
As always ready to jump to conclusion without doing basic troubleshooting. 🙂

My bad.

On ACT fibernet,
I would like to know why? why is it like this on ACT? and what was your experience. It feels like, you had you fair share lol.
Maybe their premium service demands for premium hardware lol,

and i see you are an ACT user as well. what are your ping on singporian servers?

Trust me, I've never had Speed issues in the last decade. My post is previous based on peers experiences.

Ping to Singapore.

Huh? Did you not read the rest of my post? 😅

Many times here people complain about speeds while checking on wifi with old or less capable hardware which is why we should every time first ask whether they are using ethernet or wifi.

Which seems to be the root cause of the problem here yet again.

Again pings are being checked on wifi if I read the next post correctly.

i don't why i am facing this issue. My hardware is not that rusty. My laptop is quite decent and should be able to handle these speeds with ease.Unlucky me.. I did check on my fathers phone, which is new. it varied a lot thier too. maybe it was initial unstability, don't know

See, my ping is also double of yours. My previous isp- Hathway, showed almost same ping on servers, i am testing now. Maybe routing in my area is messed up or something. TOOO much bad luck. Or every isp is shit here..

and i see your CMD prompt version is higher than mine. maybe i am lacking some crucial update. let's keep fingers crossed LUL 😵 and also, what is your locality?

Are you testing pings on wifi or ethernet?

It could just be wifi signal interference in your house from neighbours. Can you run network analyser app on mobile and laptop? It helps me to get better wifi too when I manually selected less crowded wifi channel.

even tried on lan. only had difference of 2-3ms. 191 got to 188 , 6 got to 4

In that case try different dns servers or compare pings to ip address and not hostnames?

If you are getting pings of 6 to nearby servers then it could be genuine routing issues with ACT so you should try to get your customer care to get the backend team to look into it.

did on both, wifi and ethernet. almost same ping. only a difference of 2-3 ms.

will surely use network analyser now.. it seems like, every small details matters at high speed

ohk, Am on google dns, Will see if anything changes by changing dns

Every fking Isp have routing issue in my area. What should i say to ACT? my friend is getting 15 is COD and i like 30? I don't know if this is enough for them to do anything. And i am not able to think of anything else.

Because Singapore is closer to Hyderabad. Yours pings are just fine.
