I tried enabling bridge mode on all 4 ports (one by one) on my Nokia ONT, but no luck yet. In order to debug further, I tried connecting the bridged port to a linux PC using a patch cord, but there was no interface light on the PC's interface, and the port is also showing as down in the LAN Status page on my ONT. Is that normal, or does Airtel have to enable something on their end?

You need to raise a ticket with Airtel to enable bridge mode.

@gopichandpai Thanks for your reply. I called them up today morning and a technician visited today. He enabled Bridge mode from the ONT GUI but it wasn't working. Although he tried hard, seems like he was wasn't given much control from Airtel. I'm not sure if there is a keyword or something that I'm missing. He did seem helpful, but his point was that as there's an option in the GUI, nothing has to be done from airtel's end. He also called a few more people and asked but to no avail.

Most of us have gone through the same problem. Customer care team nor local technicians are able to help. Keep trying and also ask @Airtel_Presence on twitter. Keep trying and you will finally find a person who understands this and would be able to enable it from the backend.

Gotcha, how did you get them to enable it on the backend? I already tweeted Airtel, waiting for a reply from them.

2-3 people contacted me and asked what is the issue and if they can come home. i told them i know how to set it up in my router , want you to enable from their end. first they asked to try , when it was not happening they took time and called back after 4 hrs. one more thing , they will tell u which ports are Bridge in backend , make only those ports Bridge in GUI also. for me they enabled port 1,2,3 to Bridge, Port 4 in Router mode.

Update: Got a call back from Airtel's backend team. They told that bridge mode is enabled on port 1 and port 4, but it wasn't working for me (no link light at all). If you plug in the bridged port to a device, the ethernet light should light up right? He then told that there'd be someone visiting the next day.

The technician who visited the previous day called and informed that bridge mode is active on Port 4. Got a link and it works perfectly there. Thanks for the help 🙂

Out of curiosity, is it possible to use your own SIP client? I noticed that the VLAN 100 is untagged on Airtel's ONT itself, and nothing has to be done on the bridged port. Kindof was hoping that they'd not untag anything so that I could untag 660 on my end and use it for calling.
