Airtel Xstream Fiber (300Mbps)

I registered for static IP 2 days back from Airtel. Today, around 4 pm my internet stopped working, I'm having proper tx/rx power in my fiber line but the internet is not working. I logged in to my Huawei ONT and I see pppoe connnection timed out. I tried resetting the router, still the same.

Called LCO guy, he said static IP isnt available in my area and I should call 121 and ask them to cancel my order of static IP and make my internet work fine again.

I called 121, they said a static IP has been assigned to me and soon an engineer will be visiting my premisis to configure it. But there were no such service requests registered, I asked them to register my service request for configuration. They did it. After a while, I called the assigned engineer to come and fix the issue, I got to know he is brother of that LCO guy lol. He said he will be coming after 7 days as he is not in the city currently. I called back 121, made them register the complaint, they forwarded a call to someone at big level(Nodal officer I guess), I explained the issue, she said someone will be coming tomorrow for sure.

Have anyone ever experienced any such issue at the time of purchase of static IP? Is the internet down issue because of static IP?

They do not know shit. I bitched a lot about my LCO though. Anyone knows how can I get my static IP details so that I can configure that on my own as Huawei router is not locked. Plus I asked the lco guy to do it remotely, he said if they could do things remotely then it would have been so easy for them to earn and eat lol.

is it really possible that static IP is not available? We have airtel fiber in our city since past 8 months.

You raised a ticket right... Wait till tomorrow.
Give higher preference to Airtel guys than LCO. If you are nice to them, they will help you solve your issues.
Can vouch for this from personal experience.

@nishantt6969 I have no expereice with Airtel static ip. I too had some queries about it. But for your info what I know is Airtel technicians are different than the LCO guys. Airtel technicians will do this configuration remotely. LCO has no access to routers. They don't even know how to set up PPPoE for airtel as the current routers come preconfigured. They only enter the details of your router while installation to your Airtel broadband account and factory reset the router. All the configs are done on restart automatically.

You will get a call tomorrow from an Airtel technician. You can log in to my Airtel app and see the service request progress there. There you will find a deadline date and time. By that time, somebody will surely call you or do the setup.

@imdarkray and internet not working till then is fine?

@imdarkray plus it is written in service request that a technician will visit home. (noob af) his name is written there so I know.

dont even know my city has official airtel guys or not

Airtel operates in Barabanki but max speed on offer is 300 Mbps. If the static IP request is registered in your Airtel Thanks app a tech will be deployed to set it up or depending on your ONT it may be done remotely. If a request isn't registered the IP won't be activated. You'll need to call them again.

@Chip No, static IP request is not registered in Airtel Thanks App. Infact there is no mention of static IP in airtel thanks app. I got this done from appllete. Talked to 121 around 9:30 and they said your static IP has been assigned, ans internet not working is because of delayed configuration in ONT. They have setup a call back from engineers in next 24 hours. I got to hear this yesterday evening as well. Let's see when I'm getting a legit response from airtel other the mugged up replies.

People have weird experiences with static IP purchase from Airtel. For few, it took several weeks but their internet was working fine.

My case is extremely f'ed up.

Well, there are no official engineers of Airtel in Barabanki I guess because everytime I am assigned an engineer is either brother of LCO or the LCO himself. And doesn't know shit. Calls fiber optic cable a pipeline which can have 1gbps flowing. Lmao.

@Chip he even said static IP service is not working yet in barabanki so I should call back 121 and ask them to cancel my order. Is it even possible that static IP isnt available and broadband is working fine for past 8 months?

@nishantt6969 it's better you call to ask them how to configure your OWN router because as I recall the ONT is in bridge mode. Otherwise they will perform changes on the supplied ONT which in normal cases does the necessary configuration via TR169 remote mgmt protocol.

Once done it'll be good if you can share your personal router config steps here just in case one day I also go in for a static IP from Airtel. 😉

How the heck is that possible? Apparently the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing? 😆

The call centre will check feasibility of providing static IP before providing it. So this LCO fellow doesn't know what he's talking about. Complain to 121 about his lack of knowledge!
