Hello Guys,
Recently like last night I joined BSNL Fibre in Bhubaneswar, However to my dismay I have been getting only 20-30mbps on a connection of 300mbps even on 5ghz band.
Kindly advise what can be done? The equipment I am using are
Modem- Netlink GPON ONT 2GE+1POTS+ac WIFI (HG323DAC)
Router- TP-Link Archer C6.
Almost all the devices on the setup are Macs and they lack ethernet ports.

I called up the vendor and he told me that I need to speak to bsnl fibre people directly and that they'd be able to help me, and to utilise a 300mbps connections certain more changes need to be done otherwise I'll only be able to use 100mbps. Pls advise and help me in this situation

Solution
Tldr: BSNL vendors in Bhubaneswar don’t like investing in quality OLT and sell oversaturated ports. So avoid BSNL fibre. Same is the case with direct Bsnl as well but you can complain on PG portal. But if you complain on PG portal against vendor. BSNL people save the vendors ass. Kudos to @Xposed for helping out of his way.
So I’m filling a consumer complaint against BSNL and vendor. Wish me luck 🙂
@Xposed why is there any hassle in requesting for more bandwidth by the LCO? The BSNL chap told me that had I taken a 100mbps connection I wouldn’t have faced an issue, since almost all connections in Bbsr are 100mbps and accordingly the infrastructure is planned out ?

Then you must ask him why in the name of the god are they selling 300mbps plans in Bhubaneswar, they should be saying that it isn't feasible in Bhubaneswar

Because 100 mbps plan is is enough for most of the users and it is the highest selling plan
almost everyone of BSNL customers have that plan in Odisha because the play dirty tricks to sell you that plan most of the LCOs in Odisha will tell you that they don't support plans below 100 mbps( this was before the entry of of jio fibre when BSNL was selling ftth at a premium and I had to spend 8k for getting a new connection)

instead of that I did request jio fibre from almost 30 email ids and phone numbers that I am interested for a new connection(lol) then after 1.5 months jio fibre was available in my locality and I must tell you that it was the first one to get it here in Bhubaneswar

The problem with bsnl is that most of the higher UPs are still from the stone age and think that internet is for wealthy people of the society and should be paying a premium for it and you know what the jto and SDO get orga*m hearing the name of ftth and they want bribes to provide you the feasibility of fiber in your locality

Then comes our beloved LCO babu who charges you ridiculous price of Rs20/meter of fiber and dare you not buy your own cable, he won't be providing you the support incase something of a fiber cut(good luck getting him to repair your connection once there is a fiber cut in next cyclone in Odisha (😂)

Hey @vasudha I have another theory, since your router is Archer c6 and supports MU-MIMO, MU-MIMO is a technology which divides the speed of the devices connected to the equally across the network and most of your devices are wifi based , so your router could be nigotiaiting the speed for each device to around ~50 mbps per device so please try turning off MU-MIMO on your router and see if fixes the problem.
or you can disconnect all other devices from the network leaving one and sole device connected to the network

If you get > 250 plus then problem is with router and turn off MU-MIMO

If you're getting around no change in speeds then problem is with oversaturated bandwidth

I can bet that Mr.troubleshooter Sahu from NIB has ignored this possibility

@Xposed very aptly put, if Jio fibre would have been there I would have taken it any day over Bsnl. The LCO charged me 7.2k for installation. It’s sheer bad luck that Old town doesn’t have Jio fibre. I have tried the same method you mentioned for Jio Fibre but it still showed that it’s not available in your area and hence I was forced to take Bsnl. Bro bribe also ain’t a problem if they are able to provide service but the attitude these guys harbour is despicable. The entire Bsnl apparatus has scam written all over it. Which begins from fibre installation to installing these cheap ass Chinese modems. Yesterday to check the WiFi I switched of all connections and sat under it like Newton did under the Apple tree but the results were still dismal. He clearly put it across that the LCO lacks bandwidth. Btw you still use Bsnl? Or Jio? Which area ?

@vasudha I am with jio as Airtel isn't available
Still paying BSNL to keep my number active

Please look for the nearest location where jio is feasible , call the sales guy and tell you will pay extra if he can provide you with a connection bribe him 1k

When it comes to jio , sales can do wonders top it up with 1k bribe and viola! You have a connection

Which area are you exactly ( dm me the full address) , I will see if I can pull some strings to make it happen for you

@Xposed don't have the DM option available/enabled. Any other way to reach out. This is my first post on the forum 😓 I don’t mind even 2k as a bribe for Jio to access high speeds. You know I’ll get him even a few more houses in my locality lol. I stay in Old town area. Beside.

Yeah and ensure you are checking on wired connection not WiFi which can be unreliable.
