Oftentimes we see users with the “I was banned“ banner under their former usernames in various threads. The thing is I’ve noticed people tend to keep repeating the same actions that caused another user to get banned previously. Now I make a reasonable assumption here that these new users aren’t the same dumbwits who do the same mistaken action over and over with newer accounts each time just to be rebellious?! Seems fair to just assume these are legitimate different users who don’t really bother to read/know rules of the forum.

Anyway my suggestion is a feature that can indicate what action by a banned user resulted in their ban. As of now, clicking a banned user’s profile sends us to a “Info not available page“. I am not sure how my objective can be achieved but I was thinking maybe the very last post of that person with a tag by the moderator of the inappropriate behaviour resulting in a ban? What do you think?

In simple terms, what I can do here is mostly dependent upon the functionality offered by the software running here. I do not believe XenForo has any specific functionality that is designed to highlight the ban reason for banned users. There is no feature where I can post a public message highlighting why a particular member was born. In most cases, I would not even want to post such a message. It is just pointless to have other members start a discussion about the mod action taken on another member. This is not a public utility service. Or a democratic platform.

As an admin, I do have ability to check recent posts of banned members… I guess it is a shame that this functionality is not available to general members. Because most bans would be easily explained by the last or recent posts made by the banned member.
