When the IP of the router changes, the connection to the internet breaks for sometime? Negligible ofcourse, but the connection breaks down?

This is expected. The IP is bound to the PPPoE session, during IP change, the session disconnects and a new session is started.
Does the IP changes automatically on your connection? because I have seen the IP doesn't change for months when I had my router connected to a UPS.

I have seen in my case that connection drops for a second or so before reconnecting. I haven't been keeping tab on ip's before and after so cannot comment if related to ip. Sometimes pages won't load, shows error, page refreshes itself and then website loads.
Don't know what is going on. 🙄

@Gokul Kannan I could never keep track of that. Yes, PPPOE session is definately considered, Connection is terminated and then again connected when the IP has to be changed, But no idea for how long IP can remaim unchanged.

BTW how often these airtel LCO cuts off the connection to maintain or upgrade things known as downtime.

@nishantt6969 my airtel IP remains unchanged for days on end stretching into weeks. Some ISPs have a shorter DHCP lease of 1 day or even less. Don't worry too much about these things. So while you might face a momentary interruption but it is only that..momentary. If you need a static Ip you will need to contact 121 assuming your connection is from Airtel direct. Other call the LCO to check if they can provision.,

In airtel IP address changes only when you initiate the PPPoE call. Which basically means, it changes when you restart the router, there was a disconnection or you manually clicked on save changes on PPPoE configuration page. If you don't turn off the router and if there is no disconnection, IP address will never change.
