Got a new Airtel xstream connection.. planning to buy Panasonic cordless phone for using landline number. Are all Local/STD Outgoing & incoming calls free? Is there a pulse rate tariff for calls to other landlines/mobiles?

Free calls unlimited

1860 numbers are not free. And there is a fup. I don't remember the details. Something like you can't dial more than x numbers in a day. It's pretty liberal so normal home use won't hit it easily.

I read somewhere here that permission from MTNL/BSNL is also needed for activating landline.. never understood their role in this🤔

It is unlimited calling, STD and local. I think ISD is not available because this is a VOIP line.

By default it is disabled, you can call customer care to activate ISD. No charges, except for calling minutes

@blackpanther22 are you sure? Their technician told me and my neighbour ISD is not available due to this being a VOIP line.

@Chip Unified Access Service (UAS) providers are allowed to operate voip gateways for domestic and international calls. ISPs and MSPs aren’t allowed.

My area hasn't even got voip :/ on inquiring I was told by lco that no area in J&K has got Voice calling yet. anyone from J&K getting Voice calling service?

@pillaicha I guess both TS and Airtel fall in that UAS category but they're not offering ISD on VoIP lines. Confirmed with both again. I'd have liked to activate ISD service on my VoIP line so I can give up my crappy & v old BSNL connection.

@blackpanther22 so did u have to activate ISD separately via their call centre or is it activated by default?

These technicians are so full of s**t! Seriously! If ISD is/was available I'd have got rid of the PoS BSNL line ages ago. 🙁

yes , some permission is needed as I am using in Vrindavan for last 4 months but no landline activated till date, airtel CC keeps on saying every month - next month. i laready have 2 working old landline devices/fixed phones but there is no dial tone from Nokia airtel xstream fiber device.
