I think Samsung changed this behavior on 3.x. I just cannot get the phone to wake up on notification arrival. Google tells me that a lot of people are facing this problem and nothing seems to work. One suggestion was to switch to brief notifications but that does not work for me. Anyone here has any luck?

Only time Screen wakes up for me is with "SMS Organizer" app for SMS.
It has "Wake up lock screen on notifications" in Notification which can be turned on/off.
For no other app like Email/Gmail/WhatsApp I found this option in notification settings.

It worked exactly same for Samsung A8+ (Android 9) and Samsung S20+ (Android 10/11).

@Sushubh Have you tried "Brief" Notification under Notifications settings for Samsung?
It has Brief pop-up settings. If "Brief" Notification is enabled, we get short notification along with Edge lighting which lights up screen edge for short moment.

Edit: you already mentioned it in first post 😀
I never tried that in Android 11/One UI 3.X.
But its working fine in Android 12/One UI 4.

I checked it for WhatsApp, Email, SMS Organiser. For these Apps, when message arrives, short pop-up comes on screen along with Edge lighting in colour same as app icon (like Green for WhatsApp, Red for Email, Blue for SMS Organiser).
