As you have seen in the title , I want my fan to get switched off at 3 AM midnight because I wake up sore in the morning due to dryness . Something like a timed smart switch would do .
There is a complication here. I have to install it between the fan`s incoming output(ceiling wire-in and between the fan) because nothing on the wall plate can be touched because of the rented house.
But I have a doubt , how will the regulator function work with the smart switch in between the Regulator and the fan. I am guessing it will not cause any issues. Some one well versed in Electric-stuff/Electric Engineering advice needed. Also give some suggestions for a smart plug maybe under 1000 with good app interface and functions . 6Amp will do

I cannot change my fan because that unit is really good

Any other creative ideas are also welcome 🙂

Solution
You can get a Sonoff Basic smart switch and put it inside the upper cup of the fan. It does have timers iirc. But you need to have an active internet all the time since the device depends on an internet connection for time sync (it doesn't have an internal battery like CMOS batteries inside a computer).

Why not get BLDC fan with remote. It has some timer function too.
you ll recover initial cost too in 3-5yrs.

@igloo Actually the fans are from Havells and they are really good currently . I think they are one of those power saving ones. And it is a rented house , really hard to make changes. Well its a duplex and the owner is chill , but I am too lazy to do that 😛

Thanks guys. The Sonoff R2 Basic Smart switch is perfect for my use case. SOLVED
