Moving to IPv6 network

@ishanjain28 - thanks will look into wireguard.

@JB701 / @jayanta525 - for Mikrotik/openwrt/pfsense/Opnsense - I am confused about the hardware.... And the fact that I am not finding it locally... I don't mind importing, but that's an extra hassle. Also, I checked the prices at AliExpress, including customs etc, they might turn out to be pretty expensive... No?

@harshmoorjani You mentioned having a managed switch, if that's the case, get a RaspberryPi 4, for OpenWrt. And with the managed switch, you could extend up to any number of physical ethernet port as you want.

does this support dual wan?

@JB701 - have you used this multilinkonline.com before to order stuff?

My order is still not shipped. Just wanted to understand their usual timelines...

So, I received RB750Gr3 a few days back and set up the whole thing... firewall, load-balancing, failover... all good.

At the same time, switched from Zerotier (which I wasn't able to use without relays) to TailScale (for which I could find the right ports to open, to have direct connection) between Home Server and Oracle Cloud Instance.

Works like charm for all of HTTP/HTTPS/SSH

And now I don't even need to worry about static/public IPv4 or IPv6 to IPv4

RouterOS is a charm in that sense.

But I still want to setup IPv6 for my home network, for 2 reasons -
  1. Public IPv6 will help in better connectivity between tailscale nodes (or so I read)
  2. As a learning exercise
But I haven't been able to get it working. I am not sure, if there is something that RouterOS is missing or just that I am not able to find how to do it.

Anyone here who can help?

Routeros doesn't have IPv6 package enabled by default do

/system package enable ipv6

In winbox command line or use gui

@JB701 - I have enabled that... problem is I am not able to set DHCPv6 server (or relay) properly. Devices are not getting IPv6 addresses.

That is strange, unfortunately I don't have Mikrotik or IPv6 ISP to test out now.

Could you send the picture of IPv6 page on Winbox with addresses blurred out?

@JB701 - there is nothing to share... I removed everything 🙂

But could you help me with basics of what all to configure?
