hi,

How to block network scanners like android app or windows app in my LAN or hide my IP address from LAN network scanner ? I have been sharing my internet with some random guest at my house. Some time internet disconnected at my devices, while using windows
my antivirus app alarmed that there is an network scanner used on my LAN, Is there any setting to change in my modem cum router in order to do this ?

I'm having my VDSL2 modem with router enabled. how to resolve it ?

Network scanners work by either pinging hosts or using ARP.

Some Access Points/Routers have "client isolation" in WiFi, this prevents clients from communicating with anyone other than router.

Guest SSID is also another thing present in WiFi routers, I think it works in a similar manner.

@JB701 mine is Beetel 777 vr1 modem, I checked on my modem settings i didn't find any. do you know my modem supports this feature ?

Your guest uses WiFi right?

Archer C6 is fairly cheap and has "Guest Network".

@JB701 I know these settings avail at decent modems but I am not sure about this beetel 777 vr1. this modem doesn't even have a website to check spec or reach support 🙁

if you have any spare router (even without guest wifi), you can connect that to your beetel and give the guest the wifi of the spare router. this should also isolate the guest from other network (due to nat).

Thanks, but this airtel ppl here not permitting to connect extra router, i don't know what to do. using this Airtel for a year. also thinking about to say good bye to airtel.
