Also just 2 days back used Truecaller voice to make call to another stranger who has sent me money by mistake to my mobile number through UPI.
I feel strange reading this. If I sent money accidentally of course I'd want it back. If I received someone else's money, I'm not sure if I can trust myself to initiate giving it back. Unless they call me. You're a good person.

I received call from that person. His number was same as mine, only 2 numbers were reversed, other 8 digits exact same. I also verified amount was received. Someone wanted to send it to him, but sent by mistake to me. So I forwarded amount to correct number.
Since my Idea number outgoing is stopped, so I called back from Truecaller.

it's kind of crazy. they did a lot of things right with UPI. you get to see the bank account holder's name! Paytm wallet is same though so it is a pretty standard thing.

I use both Signal and Telegram so I can have something close to secure for the majority of people I talk to. I prefer Signal due to learning that Telegram was rolling their own encryption years back but I don't know if that's changed recently. Another thing is that Telegram doesn't default to E2E encryption and it's tougher getting people to understand the difference sometimes.

I simply set Signal as the default messaging program on family member's phones (mother mainly) and it'll E2E encrypt everything between Signal users and work as a normal messaging app otherwise. Pretty convenient overall.

Does anyone know how to restore messages in signal app? Recently I changed my phone and I'm facing trouble in restoring messages. I have selected the backup file in restore backup on new install page. But instead of asking for 30-digit code for backup it directly goes for asking my mobile number. As soon as I enter my number, I don't see my old messages.

@Tejas01 I was finally able to restore my messages after following a different method mentioned on their website. It was not identifying my backup automatically. You can follow the below steps to restore your messages. This method solved my problem.

Also the 30 digit code is very important, without the code you wont be able to restore the backup.

Here's another way to make sure your backup file is in the correct spot on your new phone.
  1. On your new phone, register for Signal without a backup (your old phone will now go offline).
  2. Enable a backup on your new phone.
  3. Find the new backup on your new phone and write down where it is. Look at the file name to confirm you just made this backup.
  4. Uninstall Signal on the new phone.
  5. Carefully find your old backup. Look at the date and time in the file name.
  6. Move the old backup to the same folder you found in step 3.
  7. Install Signal.
