I'll start off by saying that I'm a complete networking noob, so I'd appreciate if you dumb down any solutions for me.

My room is pretty far from the room where the main router(JioFiber JCO110) is kept, and I'd get poor signal. I had an old D-Link DSL-2730u and decided to use it as an access point. I logged into it's gateway UI at 192.168.1.1, which is the default address. I changed the main IP to my main router's IP, changed wireless mode to my main router's, disabled DHCP and set it to bridging mode (was I supposed to do all of these?). After connecting the old router to my current router, it works seamlessly as an access point. After this I tried to change the SSID of my old router. I disconnected my old router from the main router and connected it to my PC via ethernet, and when I opened 192.168.1.1, I just got the "unable to access this site" error. After this I thought ipconfig /all should give me the gateway address, but the space for Gateway address was empty. I don't know what I should do now. From what I understand this is because I disabled the DHCP server, so what should I do so that it still works as an access point but also allows me to use the old router's gateway? Thanks
