I am using MTNL FTTH and while other broadband networks like Jio, Airtel, Tata Sky have upgraded plans like Rs 700-1000 for 100Mbps with 3TB+ data, MTNL Mumbai at best provides 1000 GB for (Rs. 2000 + 10% GST) and that too they max out at 100 Mbps. WTF is really going on at MTNL Mumbai? The last REAL update to broadband plans came in August 2019 which is 1.5 years ago. Just walk into any exchange in Mumbai and you will see people lined up to surrender their phone lines.
I just don't have Jio, Hathway, Airtel or even Tata in my area and feel so stuck with this costly internet.

Is our incompetent government even aware of this? The competitors have left MTNL far behind and MTNL is on rapid decline. What's with BSNL taking over MTNL's Telecom business? What about FTTH business? Who is going to run that $hit-show? At the moment, I am disgusted not only because I am getting intermittent disconnections, but also because I am paying 3x more than others.

Have you enquired about any local ISP ? Justdial can help sometimes
 
Yes and on just dial. No one wants to come here Prabhadevi as they believe not many will take connections and ROI won't be enough to cover wiring expenses.
 
Atleast you have fiber mate... I am still stuck with ADSL for the last 15 years. And that bull-dog is least interested whether you have ftth, how good is the service provided, what amount you pay.
Atleast Manoj Sinha seemed like a man of action, this guy is nothing.
Regarding bsnl taking up operations, it will mostly be through Lco as in rest of India. Again, these govt business will move at slow pace so unless bsnl is serious don't expect fiber services atleast for a year.
 
Since past 2 year my condition was same , Only BSNL broadband was here in my city and some Private ISP which provides costly 800 rs 8 mbps plan wireless plans but since corona came , BSNL fibre and 2 private fiber providers came in my city , both offering 100mbps in 700-800 rs which is reasonable price .
I wish you get some private player soon , as i can completely feel ur pain
