I wonder how their software performs on a flagship phone. I have seen a Miui comparison on Ultra and a regular Note series phone and honestly, the experience was just meh! Surely, they can improve, no doubts there, but if I am spending that amount I would first like to see if the product is worth every penny spent.

You get used to the UI sooner or later, but I have an utter repulsion from Samsung UI for some reason.

I meant how responsive, optimised the UI is when you pay that price. When you pay that much amount, you are sought of expecting it to be similar to iOS or Oxygen OS.

I don't understand why these manufacturers slap their UI on top of Android. I also don't understand why Android One stayed limited to the budget phones.

Brand differentiation.

If all of them will sport a standard no cruft Android UI, it is hard to differentiate yourself on Hardware specs alone, as one of your competitors match 19 to almost complete 20 specs of your phone.[ Many tried that standard Android UI and burnt their hand]

For people buying offline, the UI is first chance to attract customers to phone among sea of other phones wanting the same attention.

Lastly it helps product segmentation, which business people crave: create your own problems and provide solution to it each iteration.

Oxygen OS is utter garbage these days. My OnePlus 7 on OOS11 needs to be rebooted after 2 days because camera stops autofocussing and the phone’s VoWifi stops working after few days. I can also feel overall sluggishness and lag while using the phone. 2 yrs of update and that’s it. They can’t match half of Apple’s software support. You are made to feel like a second class citizen the moment you buy their phone. Now that prices have gone up significantly for Pro models, onePlus devices are in a strict “Do not buy” category. The value just isn’t there.

I am quite happy with OneUI. And I think @Nishant is as well. I moved to Samsung from a long line of Nexus/Pixel devices (starting from nexus one) last year. Nishant did few weeks ago. It's not perfect. UI inconsistency is very visible because most apps you end up using are from Google and not Samsung. But on a decent spec phone, it provides a very good user experience.

OnePlus is implementing planned obsolescence.
The 7 Series was their last vfm series.
I would go for S20 FE 5G if given a choice in today's scenario.

Got my hands on this bad boy today.

Amazing display, photos are good, videos are pretty smooth. But the lack of 4k @ 120fps is a bummer. 5X zoom takes pretty good photos. Portrait mode photos of non human subjects produces some nice bokeh effect, but Pixel phones are way ahead in this regard. Edges look photoshopped on this phone.

Didn't like the curved display. It also means lack of good tempered screen protectors and cases.
