Looks like @shashankb beat me to it on the SFP.
 
SFP is still Gigabit though and a typical home likely won't need long distance fiber. Maybe a 24 port unmanaged Gigabit for most devices and later 10Gbit Ethernet switches or SFP+ for 10Gbit in the future for servers.
 
Once you start using LAGG/LACP, you will run of ports quickly. More ports you can get the better it is. I use SFP to interlink switches.

Also look for one which supports IGMP snooping.
 
Yes true, but it depends on how much money someone wants to spend and how complex they want the network to be. OP for instance is just starting out with PFSense. I believe starting out with a simple 8 port managed switch is the best in this case because these are fairly cheap. Especially considering OP has a budget constraint.
 


Thanks for the options totally forgot about barebone boards. But sadly the Odyssey hovers around 16-20k in India, and asrock also goes for 14k+ INR (both prices after a quick Google search, maybe be sloghly lower at some places), both of which is over my budget
