Need to buy a laptop for my mom. The only requirements are that it should be as thin and light as possible. Needs to be windows because of some software she needs to run for her work. Specs wise as long as it has a SSD and at least an i3 or equivalent Ryzen it would be fine.

I have found the Asus Vivobook 14 on Flipkart for 39k. Weighs 1.4kg. specs seem fine apart from only 4GB ram. Also ram seems to be soldered to the MB so I don't think it will be expandable

And apparently the cheaper i3 variant has built-in webcam.

Been using it for 2 hours, seems really nice

Looks pretty 'inspired' from the 13" Macbook although they managed to cram in a 14" screen because of thin bezels

Doesn't seem to heat much with normal usage

There doesn't seem to be any flex at all unlike the plastic built ones

The only things I don't like are that the keyboard is not backlit, and it doesn't seem to support USB C charging. I believe their international models do support it

Also the small keyboard takes some getting used to

I think MI should come out with a laptop powered by Ryzen 4500/4700 processor with some upgrades and competitive pricing. It would be Bang for buck.
10 hours would be quite doable under moderate usage.
@manu1991 what is the max brightness nits it can go upto? How much does the screen appear washed out under reasonable sunlight?
