Is Reselling New ONT Modems illegal?

If it is under a contract or rental and the ownership is with the ISP , then you cannot sell it . If you own the ONT completely , you are free to do whatever you want with it, It is just another router

It is just another router . So you just give money for it and buy . Then you own it . Only ISP need not give ONT . You can buy it in the outer market (Alibaba, Amazon , Flipkart , Router-switch.com) for yourself and those can be sold at your wish.
 
Is there an important paper or ID that we also need to show that would state that we do own the modem? Also, can these things be sold to other retail stores who are interested in buying and selling these things instead of looking for someone looking for a second-hand?
 


Yes the important paper would be your bill for that modem/router. If you have that, then you have the ownership. If not, then you don't own the modem/router.
