Hi friends, I a getting BSNL FTTH connection tomorrow and I am in market for a decent router. Till now I had ADSL connection and don't have any prior experience with FTTH. I am getting UTSTARCOM ONT 4842W-I modem with installation and have had shortlisted TP-Link AC1200 Archer C6 and A6 routers by skimming through this forum.
Right now, I am getting TP-Link A6 v2.0 for Rs. 2040 on Flipkart and A6 v3.0 for Rs. 2249 on Amazon. I have placed order for both as I don't know which will be better.
As per info available on net, v2.0 has a internal antenna which v3.0 lacks resulting in little bit drop in range.
v3.0 comes with dual core Mediatek processor, whereas v2.0 comes with single core QUALCOMM processor. Also v3.0 comes with DDR3 RAM instead of DDR2. This results in faster boot, better memory management, less heating and less reboots.
v3.0 also comes with Airtime Fairness feature which according to TP-Link website, Improves network efficiency by limiting excessive occupation.
I want to know if anybody has used both routers in real life and if possible, has compared them?
Plz help me as my both orders will be delivered in three days and I have to cancel one of them, but I don't know which one.
Thanks in advance.

@Sushubh @drshreenivaas Does the A6 V3 also transmit hidden SSID?

According to some posts on TP-Link Forum these hidden SSIDs are a part of their OneMesh system and there's no way to turn it off.

@AAK, I am really happy with MERCUSYs AC1900. Its much better than TP-Link archer c6 as far as coverage is concerned. I have returned TP-Link archer c6 and bought another MERCUSYs AC1900.
Both 2.4 and 5ghz bands show increase in range, but 5ghz is not much of use for moving things like mobiles and laptops. I primarily use it for streaming and my desktop which are near the router. 5ghz band is also hampered by concrete wall.

@drshreenivaas Thanks for such a quick response 🙂
. Why did you purchase 2 routers ? You could have got two mesh routers(M4) around same price plus 1k or so extra with added benefit of seamless roaming

@drshreenivaas i managed to find the info from a review.
For the curious,it has a 1.2 ghz single core arm cpu with 64 mb ram.
Archer a6 has advantage here, with dual core 900 mhz and 128 mb ram.

How bad is the range on a6 in your experience?? Can it cover around 1500 sq ft??

@razpor, for 1500 sq feet, range is adequate. But I found that wall penetration is poor with TP-Link.
Though Mercusys has inferior hardware, boot up time is preety fast and I have connected 6 devices without any performance issue. Also Mercusys lacks an app, but web management is really good.
For reviews on Mercusys MR50G, search for Romanian reviews. It seems this router is blaze there and there are a lot of detailed reviews which can be translated with help of Google Translate.

I ordered TP-Link AC1200 A6 and the coverage is pretty bad for a 3BHK. 5ghz only works in one room. I am planning to return it, Will Mercurys AC1900 work better? I got the TP Link one for 2199 INR and I think Mercurys is currently for 2499 INR. Which one should I go for?
