Edit: It was some prank😑 nothing wrong on Airtel.

Confirmed with 3 other Airtel uses in Kerala, we're all getting spammed OTP codes from Byjus, Hotstar, Flipkart, Housing.com, AltBalaji, ShipRocket(See Screenshot). It's still coming in 3-5 per minute.

Can anyone else confirm?

Does using DND block this ?

@shashankb These aren't ads, these are account login/password reset OTPs. And I don't even have accounts on the said websites.

Updated with more screenshots from other users.

This is my speculation ...it may be wrong . If it is happening in your area . Some fraudster or generally some company has leaked the Mobile number database .This can be for money or might have been hacked. Someone has collected it and some experiment is going on with that which is resulting in OTP`s coming to you. Or the SMS Gateway server which these services(Hotstar, ALT Balaji) use has gone wrong

Its called sms bombing i think. Someone in my class used to do this, everyone got bombarded with these OTPs as a "prank"

Yep, and the last time this happened to me, someone used it as a smokescreen where the scammer placed an order on TataCliq where I had some wallet balance and some leaked password. There is nothing really that you can do to prevent it, but pay close attention so that you don't ignore or miss any other important messages.
