my attainable rate used to be always in 12-13000 (now 3500), downstream rate would be in 7899 or 8000(now 2000s) according to my plan rate 2bg bsnl cul , i requested exchange to change it, and they did, the rate changed back to 7997 ,been like that for some weeks ,then again on friday (which happend on friday back then too ) -- same thing happened ,lost the downstream to 2000s as before.. , i requested them.. again they did it ,but after 4-5 hours.. frequent disconnections was there ,line noisy.. then when it came online..speed was again to 2000s , why is this happening repeatedly.. its been 4 th time now as far i remember now..
but once in the call the staff said may be the wire is not good, it might have some green residue on the copper.. ok fine.. let me see then i cleansed rubbed with alcohol .. but nothing changed..
any reasons for this behaviour.. thank you

now at morning suddenly , the downstream rate changed to 7000s , will see how long it holds up , the mode is in adsl 2+

What is your SNR and Attenuation? Most likely it is a variable outside your control. DSL is susceptible to interference. You could try to get the cable from the pole to your home replaced with a shielded twisted pair cable for higher reliability, that's what I did when I had MTNL and it did improve my connection a bit, there were still occasional dropouts though.

now at morning suddenly , the downstream rate changed to 7000s , will see how long it holds up , the mode is in adsl 2+
after 20 ,mins may be.. it frequently disconnected.. during that time.. i watched snr upstream was 6 and downstream was 18-20s may be... and downstream rate was differing from 3000s 4000s each time and now its 7000s downstream ,

SNR Margin (dB):8.5 19.8
Attenuation (dB):30.5 16.8

Attainable Rate (Kbps):9609 961
Rate (Kbps):7996 493
attainable rate varies from 8000 to 10000 to 13000 , actually before i use to have 19000 /20000

now this -again back to 2000s instead of 7000 or 8000s , the mode is in adsl .. not 2+

SNR Margin (dB):6.35.9
Attenuation (dB):39.542.3
Output Power (dBm):12.618.3
Attainable Rate (Kbps):3889307
Rate (Kbps):2629326

Attenuation has increased huh. There is disturbance on the line outside your control.

oh mm i see.. anyway i called the exchange.. the staff said . if the line is good.. no noise then there should be problem in modem. .. then he said to lodge complain saying broadband , i lodged .. line noise and broadband .. ,he said they will be attending tomorow .. but now its again in 7000s..

SNR Margin (dB):10.3 20.0
Attenuation (dB):30.5 16.9
Output Power (dBm):12.6 18.9
Attainable Rate (Kbps):12672 989
Rate (Kbps):7996 493

Attenuation going up and down again seems like an open wire somewhere on the way to the exchange.

back to 2000s

SNR Margin (dB):7.0 5.9
Attenuation (dB):40.0 42.2
Output Power (dBm):12.0 18.5
Attainable Rate (Kbps):3651 265
Rate (Kbps):2438 261
dono what they gona do

today morning still stays at 2000s

SNR Margin (dB):5.9 7.0
Attenuation (dB):40.0 31.5
Output Power (dBm):10.4 18.6
Attainable Rate (Kbps):2595 363
Rate (Kbps):2319 207

SNR Margin (dB):13.6 8.9
Attenuation (dB):32.5 18.3
Output Power (dBm):12.6 19.0
Attainable Rate (Kbps):7060 692
Rate (Kbps):3308 493

the mode changes to adsl 2+ ,adsl (no 2+) , then something first time i saw was sds speed status.. dont remember..

SNR Margin (dB):8.4 7.5
Attenuation (dB):32.5 18.3
Output Power (dBm):12.6 18.8
Attainable Rate (Kbps):8562 1169
Rate (Kbps):6556 493

i think there is an option to force ADSL2+ on some modems. But clearly, there is a problem elsewhere in the line which is causing such low rates. I don't think anyone here can help you. Contact your ISP/Lineman.

yes i do have it, i did try to check only adsl2+ ,even then i got low downstream rate.. the line man might be coming today. i am just updating my values here to keep track later 🙂 ,also might help someone having similar problem. thanks
