Hello! I recently upgraded my BSNL FTTH plan from 50Mbps to 150Mbps & I'm having a lot of trouble making the best of my bandwidth.

For a bit of background: before I upgraded my plan I was doing WDS bridging of the 2.4Ghz Wifi network from the Syrotech gateway using an TP-Link C6 router & speeds were ok.

But after I upgraded, I noticed the speeds aren't what they were supposed to be. So I decided to hook up the syrotech gateway directly (with a crossover LAN cable) to an old Tplink D5 gateway while running the D5 in router mode. But no matter what I try, I'm unable to get this done. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

TLDR:
Previous setup:
BSNL FTTH > Syrotech gateway > 2.4 GHz wifi > WDS bridged to C6 2.4 GHz wifi

Required setup:
BSNL FTTH > Syrotech gateway w/o wifi > LAN connection to D5 in router mode > WDS bridging of D5's 5Ghz wifi to C6

Configure Syrotech in Bridge mode and use PPPoE on C6, that's exactly how I have configured it.

You need to connect Syrotech 1Gig port (normally LAN 2 port) to C6 WAN port.

Hi Armaan! Thank you so much for your reply! The thing is.. I want to have the D5 connected to the Syrotech gateway over wired LAN so I can bridge the 5Ghz wifi from the D5 onto the C6. Do you think that could be done the same way you mentioned? I want to have it setup that way (Syrotech > wired D5 > WDS bridge C6) so I can get the full 150Mbps speed. Do you have any alternatives? Please do let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hey shashankb! Thank you for the reply! I'm so sorry for being a noob 🙈🙈 but can you please provide a step-by-step guide to set this up?

Can you please provide exact model number for M5 ? These TP-Link have messed up names . Also a screenshot of that would be good .

@deamer112 In that case you need to set up Syrotech in Bridge mode and configure PPPoE in D5, your D5 should be able to give you desired speeds.

If not you can configure WDS in C6 and connect to D5 via 5Ghz.

Check for any limitations in Deco in configuring in PPPoE.

Hi @armaan_99 !! Can you please point me to a guide that shows how would I connect Syrotech modem to a router over PPPoE?

And the D5 is actually a ADSL gateway, but since it is also AC1200 compatible I thought I would use it as a router. I am keen connecting the D5 to the syrotech & bridging the D5's 5Ghz to C6 because most of my devices are connected to the C6 (are in the same area of the house) & I think C6 is generally a better router.

However, like you mentioned I'm not averse to the idea of connecting the C6 to the syrotech first & then bridging it on to the D5.

Can you please tell me what would be the best course of action? Also any guides/how-to's will be really great! Thank you! 😄😄

I tried connecting the C6 to my Syrotech gateway over PPPoE but was unsuccessful in doing so. My Syrotech gateway model is SY-GPON-1110-WDONT.

I also noticed that the syrotech gateway has 3 WAN connections:
1_TR069_R_VID_46
2_INTERNET_R_VID_136
3_VOICE_R_VID_1830

Only the second one had credentials for PPPoE so I tried switching that to Bridge mode & tried connecting the C6 with both a straight & LAN cable using PPPoE & the credentials I noted down. It just won't connect. Tried changing all 3 to Bridge mode & tried connecting again. Still no luck 🙁

I just opened the Web UI of the D5 of your router and it seems D5 is difficult to bridge as it does not have a WAN port . Are you sure you can bridge it on a LAN port ?

Also post some logs when you try connecting it on PPPoE (It will be in Archer C6)

The Syrotech has 3 protocols as you said . You do not change these 2 protocols
1_TR069_R_VID_46---------This is used for configuring your ONT from BSNL end . So dont mess with this
3_VOICE_R_VID_1830--------------This is used for voice/landline . Putting this in bridge mode will make your landline useless

You only put 2_INTERNET_R_VID_136 to bridge mode .

Also take a backup of your ONT configuration file as it might come handy if something breaks
