This will be my first washing machine and I am truly clueless what should I look for. Need your help with some pointers. Following are some details if they help.

1. Top load machine for a family of two.
2. Weight- between 6-7 kg. I mean I don't know. Will 7 kg be too much for 2 people. We will be primarily using it for washing heavy clothes like bedsheets, curtains, recron pillows. I was thinking of getting 6.5 kgs if in case there is extra load. 7 kg just to be extra safe.
3. Which brand to look for? No idea. LG seems fine. Any brand which has a better service record. I have had bad experiences with big brands like Sony, Hitachi, IFB. So will be avoiding them. Samsung, LG have been good for me. My 2002 Samsung refrigerator still going strong.
4. Most important- I live in an area where the issue of corrosion is significant. So any company which offers durable electronics will be preferred.(Seems LG already got a head start here with corrosion proof and inverter tech.)
5. Availability of spare parts.
6. I live on 4th floor and the main water tank is on the 8th floor(terrace). So I am assuming there shouldn't be any issue with water pressure. In summers it may create some problem when water supply is reduced.
7. Budget 15,000-18,000.
8. Can i get a heater in top load models? From what I searched for, didn't find any.
What are the other things I need to look for? Do I need to get a wheel tray? I mean I am looking at a possibility that I might have to move the machine during summers when water supply and pressure is low.
What are the demerits of not having the required water pressure?

@socrates Does you machine has the provision to limit the rpm of the drum as in FL. That way it could help to reduce the wear and tear of the drum by running at lesser rpm.

Nopes no control over the rpm. Infact I have never seen one where you can.

Oops I think I misunderstood you. If its spin/wash cycle, that can be done. But thats all preset. We can only select a particular fabric type/light/heavy etc & everything is done by the machine. Only one where the speed is mentioned is 720 rpm for normal clothes.

@Tejas01 If you are thinking of repairing anything to do with the drum or gear box, remember that all this is assembled in the factory with specialized equipment. Unless someone has similar experience & equipment it will be a waste of your money & give you a v unhappy experience. I speak from personal experience. It happened many years ago with what what was then called TVS Whirlpool. And this bull was suggested by their technician himself & done at our home itself. And since I know a little bit of things mechanical, I saw the brute strength required. Luckily we are on good terms with our neighbors or else they would have made an equally loud sounds. 😁 Our last w/m was a LG but within 2 yrs its gearbox started making a weird sound, when the service technician came they would not admit it was a manufacturing defect. He gave us some BS that it can safely be ignored as machine is working. As I expected it became worse. Finally in the third year we had to get rid of it as the spin cycle started with a horrendous scream. Then we bought our current piece. For reasons already mentioned above.

@socrates Ok, so if I have understood correctly, spin speed may vary but its part of preset. User cannot do any changes whatsoever. Like f you choose fabric as "wollen", the spin cycle would be auto-adjusted to, say 400 rpm and user cannot manually change.
Can you share the model number for your m/c. LG on Amazon website mentions 720 rpm. I don't know if its 720 for all presets or for normal/mixed clothing..🙄

My current one is an IFB. Saw the speed mentioned I think in the user guide. I would not worry about the speed, these machines are designed to do the job without damaging your clothes. Unless its something like a dupatta which is best washed by hand.

@socrates Nope, M/c repair is not my cup of tea. Will probably go for annual maintenance.
PC dhang se khol nahi pata hu... m/c kya khaak kholunga.. 😛
Samsung claims 3 years comprehensive while LG gives 2. IFB gives upto 4..😳
@lucifer Front load or top load.
Edit: nevermind, saw it on FL m/c.

So I finally convinced my Dad to go for FL m/c. Now I am inclined more towards Samsung since this is our first machine and we won't be having more clothes to wash atleast during this pandemic and in general too.
Main reasons for Samsung--
1. Cost. Samsung's FL seems a bit inexpensive than LG's.
2. Samsung has just the right features for bachelors. LG's good no doubt, but we men don't bother too much tinkering with the presets.
3. Samsung gives 3 year comprehensive warranty vis-a-vis LG's 2 years. Aren't LG confident about their products??🤔
4. Prior experience with Samsung was good, except for my old CRT tv which was fcuk#d by Samsung engineer.
I need some views especially using clothes with elastic.
Do they tend to get loose overtime while using with machine. More specifically talking about inner garments. My Dad has this unfounded fear that inner wears tend to get loose when used in machine.

So i finalised an LG w/m FL. I have some questions if anyone has gone with extended warranty(E/W) and if they did, which one did they opt for.
I live in an are which is more prone to corrosion so I do want to extend it if it's worth it.

1. Should I opt for E/W? Are they genuinely good?
2. Vijay sales gives E/W from Onsitego. Is it reputable? Can anyone share their experience? I did go through their website and they do mention service for all parts except physical damage which is understandable.
3. Another one is from Super Electronics which is "LG BRAND STORE." Should I opt for them? I didn't inquire from which party they source.
4. Cost wise not much difference. Both bring the final price to 30k-31kk(incl of GST)
5. Has anyone of you opted for E/W from LG itself? Super guy told me there would be a difference of 3000 and he is sought of correct as 18% gst over 5000. I don't mind going for their E/W if there is genuine advantage over other parties E/W.
6. Do any of third party ones renew after 5 years? LG has mentioned it does based on its working.

I am finalising it in 1-2 days so it would be really helpful if you can advise as early as possible.
Thanks.
