It seems with firmware upgrade to R1.192

  1. users cant access to WAN settings
  2. there is no option to disable ipv6 all together.
  3. ipv6 DNS is till enforce even if ipv6 dhcp mode set to none.

please can anyone confirm this?

And just today, I downgraded the plan from Gold to 399 plan. Not sure if he will give a dual band router with my existing plan or single band. I have asked him for more details, will post it here.

I am not sure what to do. Maybe he is trying to cancel my old connection and register me as a fresh sale ??
Yes he's doing as you suspect, as they cannot just swap the the old router with the new one unless there is some problem for which there needs to be a complaint register with jio care for the router swap and there won't to be a refund in this case but your case is he is trying to register you as a new customer and complete his sales target, if I remember correctly then the same thing happened with @socrates 's friend , they tried to cool off this same scam.

@Xposed Thanks, thats what I think, but would it also not mean that I will be saving Rs.3000? They will refund Rs.4500 for my old ONT and provide a new ONT for 1500. Hence I was trying to find out if there's any difference between the 2 ONTs. Sure if white ont is superior, I dont want to terminate that one. But if they are both the same, may as well get my 3k back from them 🙂

Well as per the feedback on the forum , the world one seems to be the superior most on offer and not to mention that it being the oldest gets updated the least and has some additional features. There's a reason why the new ones are cheaper

Don’t change the router. White one is having good hardware and range as compared to new ones.
I repeat do not change unless you are having issues with it

sales guy is just targeting you for his target sales

Guys, Thanks for all the suggestions, really appreciate it. I will retain the white ONT as long as it works without any problems.

May be I am a little late in the picture. It seems like some random salesperson trying to fulfill his monthly sales quota by making you re-register. I have seen them working under such hire-n-fire quota pressure. The paradox is they end up making the company look even more shitty. Who knows if they don't actually de-register your existing connection and you have issues getting a refund? Ignore their poaching. If it becomes too much then approach the company directly via customer care to not to send pesky salesmen with new products. The new (at least the blue one I got last november) router has nothing to brag about. If anything as you may well have noticed, people prefer to use their own personally purchased routers via DHCP (because jio doesn't allow "bridge mode") in front of the Jio Router and ignore the Jio provided ONT in any case. 1500 bucks? Spend a little more personally and you can get a somewhat decent dual band router from TP-Link / Netgear / D-Link yourself on Amazon. Heck, if you have the technical expertise, and with careful research you can get a really powerful OpenWRT capable router with Dual Core MIPS/ 128MB RAM and 256MB NAND-Flash ready to be configured for some serious and "Actual" Local NAS/ DLNA / VPN capabilities.

@Dhiraj Same scam is happening in my colony & many have fallen for it. The BS they are handling out is 'you can get 5G on the new router'. Yes that's the crap being handed out. Even though the router we all got in 2019 was the white dual band unit. Most who fall for this have devices which have only 2.4ghz wifi band. Once the installation is done these jokers disappear.

Thanks for your insights @icarious , appreciate it. Yeah I chose to ignore him and also told others in my neighborhood who were approached by these salesmen.

Yeah , when they come with a jio ID card and offer you an upgrade , many fall for it, not knowing what they are getting into.

Don't know what are the changes but I am getting speeds upto 500kbps only since the update on 150mbps plan.
Anyone else facing reduced speeds?
