So, I have been on Asianet coaxial for the past 7 years, the service mostly have been stable. Today they upgraded my connection to fiber.

My coaxial plan had 100Mbps, with getting around 90-95 Mbps DL speed and ~10 Mbps UL speed.

After upgrading:

@Sammy well I can say that asianet has 2 kinds of transit . One is throught the tata node in kochi, while the other one is through airtel at chennai node. Earlier I was on tata transit and the latency to international servers were good. But since one and half months I am completely on airtel transit except for Google,Facebook. Cloudfare,. Still the latency to singapore is 57 ms ,New York 188ms ,London at 157ms.

Anyone with technicolor cable modem? They moved me to unlocked plans for free without any activation charges, promising to upgrade to fiber soon. so I decided to go ahead sacrificing to 50mbps from 100 they accidentally assigned to me, but disastrous connection now.

It is disconnecting every hour since moving to new plans, I was not facing any issue before. I can see the signal power going to half of normal to 3-4dbmv. I contacted customer care atleast 10 times now, mails. talking to their technicians. They havent resolved anything. I dont know what is issue. anyone facing similar? Am i supposed to change mtu settings or something?

Everyday at work zoom calls I get disconnected halfway through, 10 to 30 mins of streaming videos also triggers this. If they tell to replace modem, since it is their property as per their terms, wouldnt it be illegal asking me to pay for fixing?

@irongiant91 their docsis connection is shit, if properly maintained docsis can perform similarly as fiber optical connection. Guessing asianet is not maintaining the coaxial connections due to the new fiber optics era.

I was getting steady 100mbps with same modem two weeks ago. I think it was my router that caused issue, I had set QoS after speeds reduced. Only once it disconnected after that. Weird. I have been using that for over a year before they moved me to 100.

They blocked the ssh ports again yesterday. Good thing I got a 2 year Torguard VPN blackfriday deal for 50$

Hi, I recently changed from their cable to fiber optics and had to pay somewhat between 500-700. I don't regret paying this amount as i did see a large improvement in my speed. With FiberOptic(FO) i actually get speed upto 100Mbps.

This charge is not just for the modem as they have to draw new fiber optics line from their main connector. So it is a bit expensive. They'll will probably ask for 1500 Rs but for us they changed the cable without informing this extra amount so tehy gave 50% discount when they came to install the modem.

i gave an true review about their service in the link below with images attached as proof.

@lana I just saw your post, I took the same plan as yours, they finally laid the fiber cable in front of my house last week. the technician said it is only going to cost 600+tax for upgrading, I didnt want to call customer care to fasten the process, they keep changing the price every time I call them, I am expecting upgrade by end of month.
How is your connection quality overall? Are you connecting your own router directly?Did you have to do any bridging setup for own router? Are you getting 100+ on their wifi if not using your own router? If you dont mind, can you say where in Kochi you are? I am in kalamassery side, the cable disconnecting was because of QoS setting in my router before interfering with their modem. It is happening only once a day now, but because of my many complaints, they chose to just upgrade my area to fiber.
I need the 100+ speeds. 4k 60 youtube needs atleast 30 steady, I cant downloads and streams together now.

@lana @irongiant91 They upgraded my connection to Fiber for free. Didn't take even service charge.
As for Technicolor, I had that exact same modem before upgrading to fiber. I also had connection drop issues. But my issue was different, apparently. I dunno much about the technical stuff on that, but from what I understood, the signal via the coaxial was so noisy that after the SNR moves past a particular value, the modem automatically reboots itself to fix it (which is a feature). Instead of them fixing the noise, they replaced the cables and gave me fiber.

@agsbond yours is handled by lco? you mentioned plans that I dont see online and more costly, they are only showing upto 150 for monthly plans in site and we are getting 4000gb for 749+tax at 125mbps. The modem seems stable now, I have been getting steady 50, I hope after fiber speeds dont fluctuate to extremes.

@irongiant91 Its handled directly by Asianet. No LCOs involved. About the plans, the plan I took was in the website before, but now it's not there anymore. This 749 plan, where is it mentioned on the site though? Can't seem to find it.

@Luifer I was already on plan named "1 Month 1250GB IC 1499", since I wanted ~100Mbps on my coaxial. Now also its the same plan, but now I get ~200Mbps.
Hi,

Just wanted to know if this 200mbps is from the router they provided or do we have to upgrade with extra money. I am planning to take the 4 month 200mbps plan.

Also does the router they provide have dual band?

Thanks in advance.
