Apple iPhone 12

I fear other android phone manufacturers will take this Apple route.. first they started with headphone jack to promote bluetooth headphones, now charger. What's next.. Sim tray!!

I'm fine with sim tray going honestly, would help MNP to be faster and convenient. One less thing to worry about.

This year and maybe next, Android oems will mock apple with cheeky ads about how they have a charger and the year after they will get rid of the charger. That's the tradition sadly.

I am still a bit unclear on this new Apple policy. They won't give a charger. So the end user has to purchase it from Apple or any 3rd party power brick will do? Will apple atleast provide usb-c to lightining port cable or that too needs to be purchased from outside.

Cable is there, power brick is not. Power brick is lightning to usb c, and most of Apple's older products have lightning to USB normal.
So will have to buy a charger if you sell your old apple phone/do not have a charging brick

The problem is the cable. Apple said every house these days has a power brick. But they are usually a to c or c to c. Apple users would still have to carry their cable around which would keep getting damaged at the lightning port. Forcing them to get new ones. Apple makes royalty on lightning.

If their new phones had a usbc port, it would not have caused this much annoyance.

So most people will buy a power brick as well with the new phone. So will it not have negative impact on environment? Separate packing that could have been avoided. They give a damn about environment. Just looking for opportunities for more money

They would have to unless they have a spare USB C port charger at home. Most homes don't. A to lightning would have been better I guess but they would have meant terrible charging speeds with old chargers.

Actually A to lightning won't have any impact on charging speed.
If you ask them, the reasoning would be mac book got type C. You are correct most household atleast in India won't have power brick with type C port.

I have not seen a standard USB-A power brick with amperage higher than 2A. The higher ones are Qualcomm Quick Charge ones which also has voltage variations and iPhone won't be able to utilise it fully for obvious reasons.
