I'm having a weird issue with JioFiber while accessing sites/servers hosted in the US.
When I do a speediest on different websites, it looks good.

But when I do a tracert to a website that is in the US, it takes a lot of time to load and I see a lot of "*" during the trace.
It looks like the way packets are travelling on JioFiber is different. I don't see any issues with Airtel BB/3G/4G.

Can someone help me out?

JioFiber used CGNAT for it's ipv4 network design. So your home network basically sits behinf two NAT firewalls (1- router and 2- ISP). You don't have a public ip address and this really messes up the routing. See this wikipedia article.

@JB701 Yup. Because of the CGNAT configuration, the packets go through a lot of internal jio servers to finally go their destination.
You could try increasing the number of hops in the tracert command.

Terrible experience with JioFiber today.

After doing my basic troubleshooting (reset router, on/off, running the MyJio app diagnostics, making sure I've recharged, etc etc) looks like they're having some serious problems. Can't reach reddit, github, primevideo, and a good number of very famous sites I'm sure have servers all across india. tracerting on all these sites shows no luck. Requests times out all day

Good thing I have airtelfiber as backup but man. I can't figure out if this is an issue on my end. Since I don't see posts about it anywhere, just wanted to drop this here to see if anyone can provide enlightenment to this young lost soul.

@SneakySneaks I had a similar experience a few days ago. I mainly had issues with sites having only most IPv4 servers. It fixed on its own after like three hours.

I still face packet loss on some websites including this forum. Have issues while browsing fb as images fail to load sometimes. My 30 Mbps backup isp works perfectly though. Im on IPv4.

@Zuke @ritwik2000 should I get Jio Fiber then? This issue is a deal breaker for me. I need internet 24x7.Also they have just started serving my society a few weeks ago and nobody has taken the connection yet. How often does this issue of timeout happen?
I have never faced this kind of issue with Airtel. Guess I'd have to stick with it because Tata also had this random sub domain blocking issue when I was using it.

And it was worse when it happened the first time. Yesterday it happened for a few minutes randomly and then was fine throughout the day. And similarly, happened randomly today, not sure if it won't happen again today though. 😂

Edit- Okay, it is happening again. Most of the international servers not accessible.

Would you recommend Jio Fiber to a user like me who works from home and is heavily dependent on internet? How's the uptime? I don't expect any decent support from Jio either but how much time do they take to fix issues like cable break?
I am planning to get it as a secondary connection to Airtel(if I am gonna stick to with it) or Tata Play Fiber. Are they still offering non-ott plans because I already have a lot of OTT crap bundled with Airtel which I don't need except Amazon Prime and Hotstar.
How does the bundled 4K set top box perform? My parents would probably watch TV through it, infact my dad is pushing a lot to get Jio Fiber since the day they started serving my colony.
How's the ONT? I know Jio doesn't allow bridge mode but the supplied ONT should work fine for a secondary connection?
