Jammu & Kashmir: BSNL Bharat Fiber New Plans (30/100/200/300mbps)

Nope @ironmannn . I think when they give you the fiber connection initially, may be vendor select wrong service id or something which messes up this.

We(my brother actually) got another bsnl fiber connection (my 3rd) for my store shop where we keep our product stock. So we had to install cameras there to keep products out of theft. Anyways, the 3rd connection was installed and I tried registering it to selfcare which I did. Very interesting now - my 1st connection shows both voice and BB profile. 2nd connection shows only voice service but it doesn't matter now as I got the plan changed thru vendor so I am good anyways, but the 3rd connection I took, it shows only BB profile 🤣🤣 and not voice profile. Crazy right? I am sure it has something to do with vendor and when u tell them this, they are clueless.

Also I told the vendor to give 449 connection (fiber basic as it is just for camera so 30mbps should be good enough for that) but he insisted for 849 (not even 799, but 849 for 50mbps/600fup). I told him no and he said ok he will install 449 but he didn;t, connection is all setup and working and I have paid already (3500 for 2.4Ghz router onu and 4500 for dual bank onu and 1k for installation and 1k for security wtf + 1200 for extra wire requirement). I told him why the hell u gave 849 plan and he said u can change it next month. I wanted the connection so didn't say anything but this is pure looting from bsnl vendor. I tried changing the connection via selfcare for the BB profile one (the 3rd connection) but it is showing me "Service does not have eligible plans in this category" (may be bcoz the connection is new)?

@Sandy11 I am pretty sure it's either the fact that your account is pretty new and selfcare hasn't updated its details or you're Voice isn't activated from BSNL's end, you need to get it activated first only then you'll be able to see the plans on selfcare and subsequently change it, even if you physically visit the office they'll first ask you to get your voice activated from your vendor.

FYI: Voice activation costs Rs250.
Just out of curiosity, your 1st connection is at your shop, 2nd at home and 3rd is where you keep your products so sort of like a warehouse, are all three places far away from each other?

why? I don't need voice at my home and my warehouse. Just at shop I need Voice. Just coz I don't get voice, I won't be able to change my plan? Isn't that crrzy?

Yes all places are atleast 500 meters away from each other but not that too far but not that too near either.

btw I just remembered I don't even use Voice at my home, I haven't even installed home phone or anything.

I am gonna check my home bills right now and update if I have been charged 250 rs at my home connection. I am 100% certain I have seen 250 rs charge for my shop connection which we need anything. brb

wow, I just checked, my connection was installed in March and they have charged about 250 rs in august bill. Why? I don't even have voip phone at home. isn't this fraud?

@Sandy11 The thing with voice is that both the BB and voice account belong to the same Phone number so in order to change the plan it needs to reflect on both these accounts like for e.g some plans in our circle offer 24x7 free calling e.g 777 and like the newer plans above 999 only have night calling free and some southern states (look at 999 plan in Tamil Nadu) have free night + free Sunday calling as per the plan tariff, now when someone changes their plan their voice benefits may or may not change but for the cases where they do change (like someone changing their plan from 777 to 999 they both offer different voice benefits) BSNL needs an active voice account to make those changes to apply the plan. This is what i made out from the lengthy and confusing explanation given to me by person in charge of changing plans in BSNL office.

I get that it may seem as crazy but that Rs 250 is a one time charge and with the savings from the newer plan like for me i moved from 849 to 799 that means a saving of Rs 50 per month, so in 5 months i'll get my Rs 250 back.

Btw Installing a phone (i.e hardware) isn't necessary, you just need to ask your vendor to get it activated in BSNL records that's it.

As for the Rs 250 charge made in August i'm guessing that this is your home connection and you mentioned in your last post that you got your plan changed from your vendor was your first ever plan change in August or in September/October when the new plans were launched?

no, new plans launched just now. in home was on 849 plan and got it changed the first time few days ago. since initially i was on 849.

i guess i'll try to get the plan changed of my warehouse for 449 via letter to bsnl may b? do they even do plans change within few days of connection installtion?

@Sandy11 Even if you send a latter they'll most probably ask you to get voice activated first for that you need to contact your vendor. I'm not sure but i think you'll have to wait for a month to get your plan changed.

Btw, Why did you choose 849 as your initial plan because most people go with 777 plan?

coz of data is 100gb extra and speed.

u see i don't live in jammu, my brother/mom/dad do. whatever they do on the internet , even 8mbps is nuf for browsing for them and 20mbps for streaming which they hardly do. but they download movies frm torrents. so data is more imp than speeds.

My Cousin changed his plan last night via selfcare portal and the new plan got activated today, so if it works for him in Kathua so I'm pretty sure it'll work smoothly for us, besides some technical people inside BSNL have told me that it'll take time but they are trying to improve such basic facilities such as plan changes so that it works smoothly as they know it as well that it is crunch time for their survival as well.
I have also changed plan via selfcare portal to 799 fiber value plan on 10/10/2020 My SSA is Udhampur and it show it will activated within 1-2 days. But right now my plan changes but speed i get is still 10-20 Mbps on download and on 90-95 Mbps Upload on LAN Cable. I complaint again on 16-10-2020 and they said Plan hasn’t updated yet. It will take 1-2 days time. Ridiculous from BSNL. Some are getting speeds and some are on 10 Mbps line.

@CHOPSHOT i had asked question regarding wifi link speed , if hardware/software of a device can limit max wifi speed on a device and whether a dual band router will be of any help if xiaomi devices are showing link of 72 Mbps only . Any idea or you are also unsure?
For laptop I think we can change from properties, not sure if there is any quick way for mobile phones, what if i get a router support 850plus Mbps , but my device supporting 72 only , not sure if link speed in that case will improve.
Yes you can change properties on Device Manager On your wireless Network adapter click adapter and click roaming sensitivity and set it to High. It changes your laptop link speed from 72 Mbps to 150 Mbps.

@sid414 yes but max will be 150Mbps , I purchased archer a6, so link speed is now upto 866Mbps on laptop .
For plan change directly visit any nearest bsnl exchange, they do it on same day if plans are available. Officially new plans are only available for Jammu & Srinagar SSA only, Udhampur will not get this but still confirm from bsnl exchange.(Kathua etc comes under Jammu SSA ). But if new plans are not available , then old plans have been upgraded, so you can use 777 plans with 100Mbps(earlier 50Mbps) n 500GB and after FUP its 5Mbps (earlier 2Mbps) i guess .

Btw @Sandy11, i asked you about the distance between all 3 places because i was wondering if you could have used wireless point to point outdoor equipment to serve all 3 locations from a single connection or atleast the 3rd one you bought recently from one of the other two, i understand that many factors such as line of sight may be an issue depending upon the height of the surrounding buildings but just a thought.

1st it would have been illegal as per bsnl's t&c, 2nd, it would have been a mess. I know I could have managed it, but I visit my folks 2-3 times a year and my brother and parents stay there so it wouldn't have helped and they rather pay the connection fees rather than maintaining all 3 connections as 1.
