Hello, everyone!

With my ARP renewal date coming up, I have several questions regarding Airtel’s plans, which they do not seem to explain well enough on their app/website.

1. Airtel says that the 1499 plan comes with a Zee5 subscription, but that can be redeemed only if one takes their Xstream Android box. But what if I already have the box? Even in that case, I should get the subscription, right? And can existing Zee5 accounts be used, or a new one will have to be created?

2. Do 6 month ARP plans come with semi-annual Amazon Prime subscription, or an annual one?

3. This might have been discussed already, but if I contact Airtel for enabling bridged mode on my Huawei ONT, will I be able to change plans in the future?

Thanks in advance!

1. You should. Check your Airtel Thanks app in the rewards section - you should see the option to activate ZEE5 from there. Upon clicking it, it takes you to ZEE5 login page where you can enter your details or create a new account. The existing account should not already be on premium.
2. Annual one year subscription. However, if you disconnect within that 1 year, Airtel can cancel your prime subscription from their end.
3. Bridge mode on Huawei routers is fairly easy to setup by yourself and easier than haggling with Airtel to send over a technician or to contact backend to do it for you. Just search on this forum for guides or ask for help. One user reported issues with changing plans for which he had to get his ONT replaced (for free). Safest bet would be revert it to normal mode, get plan change done, then revert to bridge mode.

You can check it from the Huawei ONT itself. Take a note of it and then use the same while setting it up on your own router. Ideally, customer care should be able to tell you these details as well. Maybe you can call them up before setting it into bridge mode?

I tried to take a look in the existing WAN configuration. But it’s hidden and I cannot copy paste it somewhere else to make it visible.

I guess I should call CC.

Just a tip that worked for me although my router is not Huawei (but is still Chinese) - if the password is of the form with dots, I chose inspect element on the browser and changed the field from password to text, which revealed the password. This may or may not work for everyone although.

Yes, I did some reading and got to know a lot of new things today!

Funnily enough, I had wanted to bridge my modem since long, but I held back because I was afraid I'd screw something up. Guess one does need to take the plunge once in a while.😀
