I meant if I take 399 plan right now and then even after the year I still keep the 399 plan, what then? is this prime only for 1 year and after a year will it go chargeable?

It will be additional one time 999 to your bill after 1 year for another whole year

Rs.999/yr will be added as subscription cost to your postpaid bill. Same principle is followed by Airtel
hii, I have no experience with this before and couldn't find any more information.

is there a way to cancel this charge? or do I just have to pay it?

Yes, you can cancel it to be charged 999 rs .
I don't know about Jio, but in Vodafone and Airtel you get this option under my subscription.
From there you can cancel it from being charged on renew.

Before cancel it manually, confirm that till when your Amazon prime will work or that will stop immediately.

got the 399 activated. Strangely I got only 20gb data. It shows 7 days left for billing cycle. My plan got activated today, how come 7 days billing? May be they do it acc to them and gave me pro rated data. I paid 600 rs (for security? will this expense adjusted to my bill?)

Haven't activated netflix yet as I already use US netflix for a friend (which I think covers everything indian netflix have + us) , Amazon prime I wanted but my current membership expire on 10th oct so they are not letting me have prime till my membership expires which is fine.

Hotstar logged in automatically. and activated the plan. didn't even gave me the option to opt in. I already have hotstar so I wanted to let me current membership expire and then use that jio gives for 1 year.

I majorly got the plan for wifi-calling as Jammu's SIM doesn't give wifi calling in delhi. so got circle change and plan changed from 10 (pre-on-post) to 399. I wish I could keep the 10rs plan that I had before but it is exclusive to J&K.

When last week I enquiry about billing cycle from Jio representative here in Vadodara, Gujarat he told me that billing cycle is 5th and 20th or something every month for every customer.

So I assume they are like provide data according to billing cycle.

But I didn't switch, as my current circle is Haryana and I am coming back to my home after Diwali.

And do not want to mess with Circle change issues.

I myself have fed up with Vodafone data speed.
Will definitely switch to Jio soon.

@Sandy11 , 10 rs plan? Damn that's something I hear for first time.

The data you got now is on a pro rated basis. Full data will be allocated after the first bill is generated. As far as I know, security deposit isn’t adjusted in the bill, but it will be refunded if you ever terminate the connection.

You don't need to switch circle or anything honestly. The flat I live in is near to life and quite in the corner of my building so I get 1 bar or no signal issue with Jio (J&K SIM). I wanted wifi calling desperately (for calls/sms , I don't care for data as I have wifi and when I go out of building I get fast speed data, just inside the flat is an issue). The problem is 3G/4G is barred in J&K and not surprisingly wifi calling is not avalable in J&K. Now 3G/4G data works when you travel out of J&K but wifi calling still doesn't. A J&K sim regardless airtel/jio works outside J&K(if it's postpaid , prepaid sim of J&K never works out of J&K coz of security issues).

In a nutshell for J&K Sim :

  • Prepaid SIM won't work outside J&K period.
  • Postpaid works outside J&K (calling/sms/3g/4g) but wifi calling doesn't work.

I talked to CC of Jio and they said to change circle and wifi calling will work. Now in J&K you have prepaid/postpaid plans same as PAN India. I travel to J&K and then delhi in and out 4-5 times a year (one time this year coz of covid). I need to keep my number as it is connected to banks and all friends/collegues etc knows my number. I certainly can't have prepaid(even though they provide better savings compared to postpaid) as J&K Prepaid sim won't work outside J&K and Delhi prepaid SIM won't work inside J&K. It's a mess from last 10 years or so. Hence I need postpaid but I need to save money too. In overall India Jio and airtel (and probably other providers but I haven't tested) provide a special postpaid plan called Rs 10 postpaid (called pre-on-post) plan. this sim works PAN India(inside and out of J&K) which I had. 10 rs I pay every month to keep the sim alive, but you can actually recharge that postpaid sim with prepaid plan(quite awesome right?). I did this 3 yrs ago and have really helped. Now recently I moved but I don't get signal at my new place so what to do? I asked airtel and Jio for network problems but they couldn't care less. All I have left is to put hope on wifi calling which will give me ability to call/sms inside my place in DEL. So I had to move my circle to get wifi calling but that 10 rs plan is exclusive to J&K hence I had to opt for a postpaid plan. As 399 plan has carry forward ability plus some OTT benefits, so I opted for this plan. My sim works flawlessly now. even if I don't have any signal whatsoever, my callling and sms works totally fine with wifi calling with the help of excitel fiber.

@Crazyguy030601 security isn't adjusted? well that's a bummer. Anyways I don't have any other option so...

I took the 399 plan and got a bill for 15 days. Apparently, they are doing an interesting jugglery by splitting OTT charges and telecom charges in the bill and this is sure to have tax ramifications for both customer and these guys.

For 15 days, I got a bill of ₹ 225.62. There is no ebill yet, so I cannot see the detailed bill. I have mailed them for it. But, I can see that bill period charges are mentioned as ₹ 63 and tax on that is ₹ 11.34. I wonder what the rest is about.

My bill cycle ended yesterday, till today no bill from them. Just a bill number with the bill amount. Cannot even download the bill from the website.

I received the eBill today. The 'eBill' is actually a statement comprising 2 eBills.

eBill 1: Jio Platforms Limited without my GSTIN
eBill 2: Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited with my GSTIN

Bills seem to be okay. Thinking how best to account for them in my books. I think I should take one bill with my GSTIN as business expense to be paid from my business account, and the other without my GSTIN as personal expense to be paid from my personal account.

Also, I do not own the bill. I can not:

  • copy content from the bill
  • print the bill.

This bill is a confidential document of national importance, I can only see the bill and do nothing else.

EDIT: Workaround

The statement is also available on the My Jio app. I can save the statement as PDF from the phone and that is a statement that I own. I can print and copy content from that file comfortably.
