I am on 100mbps download plan from my local isp here. I am getting 97 mbps downloads properly . i am having genexis platinum ont 4410 which is connected to my TP-Link Archer c6 via an AP mode since my local isp do mac binding so it does not supports bridge mode. So my archer c6 is dual band modem supporting upto 867 mbps on 5ghz and 300 mbps on 2.4ghz band. As for my devices , i am using an HP laptop having an intel dual band radio 7265 supports speeds upto 867 mbps in total. Also i am having a Galaxy a70 with Snapdragon 675 modem in it. The problem starts here: i am placing 2 devices side by side within 30 cm range approx. When i am speed testing on my laptop its showing a mere 30 to 45 mbps on ookla with a ping 22ms , but at the same time when i do a speed test on my a70 its giving me the full 97mbps in with a ping of 7ms . both are in same place. my settings on archer c6 would be

1. Beamforming is disabled
2. smart connect is disabled both 2.4 and 5ghz has same SSID'S
3. 2.4ghz is in bgn mixed mode whle 5ghz is a/n/ac mixed mode.

my phone is connecting to 5ghz with a link speed of 292 mbps while laptop is connecting to 2.4ghz with a link speed of 144 mbps. I know intel radios perform poorly as compared to sdg counterparts but here we are taking about is a speed drop of 50mbps when comes to laptop . I should be getting atleast 60 to 70 mbps with my laptop even its on 2.4ghz band which also beats me as my phone is connectiong easily to 56hz band in the same postion. I just want to know a few things

1.Is this due to some fault with my laptop mother board?
2. Can i tweak any settings so as to get improved wifi speeds on my laptop .

Any help would be deeply appreciated

Your 2.4 GHz is heavily affected by interference. Try changing bands. Remember that Channels 1, 6, 11 are the only bands that don't overlap with each other. That means Channel 6 will still overlap with 5 or 8. So if your neighbour is on Channel 1 or 11, use 6 and that would be ideal. If you have strong signals on say Channel 4, try 9 or 10 if you also have strong Channel 11. Disable Wi-Fi on your ONT completely. 2.4 GHz is also affected by LTE bands 40 and 41 so Channels 1 and 11 are also affected by LTE. You would be lucky if Channel 6 works for you. You can use mobile apps available on Play Store to scan Wi-Fi connections in your neighborhood.

normally most 2.ghz get 40-50 mbps speed only.
For me also getting 40-45mbps in 2.4ghz in archer c6

try these. update drivers, select 802.11n and try and also select region to india if present.

Choose different SSIDs for the two bands and then connect to the 5Ghz wifi on your laptop and then test.
Although it is a little inconvenient, but I like having control over what devices connect to which band. I keep my laptop and other larger devices on 5 GHz band and keep my more mobile devices on 2.4 GHz. Usually, I don't need high speed on mobile phones but need a larger range. I don't need a larger range on my laptops.

A few months back I used to have the same issue . I figured out that changing channels and channel width increased speed. I noticed that my neighbours wifi channels is on 6 ,1,2,4.. So I changed my wifi channel to 11 . Before changing the channel I used to get 40-60mbps on 2.4ghz . Now after changing the channel I'm getting 95-98mbps download and 100+Mbps upload...

@bobby_kes Yes i am getting upto 90 mbps on 2.4ghz , while I am getting 97 mbps on 5ghz. But considering the earlier 30 mbps speeds changing the channel Id on 2.4ghz seems to do the trick

Also how should I keep my wifi anteenas. Should I keep it upwards painting to above, should I move them so that it should point to the rooms nearby ,the problem is while placing like the 2nd way the router is surrounded by walls on all four sides
So I am little confused about the postion of antennas, my priorities are increasing range on both bands atleast on 2.4ghz preferably to the ground floor . Any thoughts in this matter would
be helpful to me

Doesn't matter how you place your router antennas you will still get the same speed and range.
That is not correct.
Antennas give the maximum range perpendicular to where they are pointing. So, they should be pointed upwards to get the maximum range.

Upwards, towards the ceiling.
