Anyone else got pre-approved credit card offer from HDFC?

I went to apply and saw this text. Any idea if this is really pre-approved of if there is any catch.

Well it basically means that based on your income they approved the Millennia Card for you. You should still call the bank and make it free for lifetime. One easy way to do that is add a bill to smartpay via their customer care service say a Tata Sky bill that is in your name. After 6 months the card will become free for lifetime. In my experience Card Expert has some good reviews about all the credit cards.
 
The application is still in process, I’m not sure if they will approve it or not. Or in how much time does it take to decide.

My cibil is 744, no loans and CCs though. Any idea? If it’s really ‘pre-approved’ or is just a gimmick.

It's preapproved based on your existing relationship with the bank. No catch, no income proof, nothing. You apply, they do a cursory CIBIL check and grant an initial limit.
 
HDFC is quite generous in issuing CC so they will issue you something if you have a bank acc with them for a while. But how you have a cibil score without any cc or loan?

I think you also applied for One card right?
 

Well I have my salary account with HDFC and they approved it based on my current salary and this was my first account . 744 is good enough for Millennia! Your application should be approved as long as you only have one application sent for approval. Multiple applications for different cards at the same time can lead to cancellation.
 
I understand that they don’t ask for ITR/Salary Slip.

But they asked in my case. But if it’s really ‘pre-approved’ then why is it in process? Can’t they generate the number right away.

Another question, how much time does it take to decide?
 
They asked for salary slip in my case and I only attached the screenshot of my salary being credited to my account. Usually it should take between 7 days but due to covid this process might be delayed. Wait for a few days and you should have an update soon. Also at times HDFC Tracking doesn't show correct information so wait for a call from hdfc CC or a sms.

HDFC also provide credit cards on the basis of your other bank credit cards. Approaching the nearest branch credit card section would be the best bet.
