Hello Guys,
I have a decade old airtel connection which was upgraded to 40Mbps plan of VDSL in 2017, now with new plans airtel is asking me to upgrade to Xstream fiber 100mbps plan with cost reduction. My issue is that the VDSL connection had underground cable in the house so it was easy upgrade.
However for Xstream fiber they are not doing it underground cable, they are only doing over wall wire installation which looks bad & this wire cannot reach my computer desk as there is a bathroom 2 walls in between with full height tiles. We live in Multi story flats & RWA is not allowing airtel to draw wire from outside building else the problem would be easy to solve.
Point 1. This is my present VDSL router next to computer drawing power from the UPS so no interruption to zoom meetings at all. All underground cable.
Point 2. This location is what Airtel is wanting to install new modem, I will have to buy extra UPS just for this router else cant get uninterrupted connection.
WE have power backup which takes 30-60 sec.
Point 3. alternative installation
Point 4. is where kids computer is installed using wifi dongle connected to main router.
Point 5. is TV area which I plan to buy this year.
MY question is as follows:
If I install new router at Point 2 along with new UPS can I get good coverage at Point 1 (18 feet away with 2 bathroom walls in between)
& point 5 (25feet away) without much speed loss?
If not then can I use old airtel VDSL router as wifi extender so I get better speed & coverage?
