BNSL recently pushed for a minor change which I believe is going to be immensely popular for decades-long customers of BSNL landline and xDSL broadband customers : The ability to migrate to Bharat Fibre (FTTH) while retaining your existing landline numbers.
It immediately becomes glaringly obvious how this is going to change the game for BSNL. The franchisee model obviously has its demerits but the merits certainly outweigh, considering it really is the only way our trusted national pride can continue to survive in this highly competitive market. Broadband penetration is increasing in India at a pace never seen before, and while that's amazing, one of the biggest hurdles BSNL was facing was that customers were unwilling to let go of their landline numbers which they might have had for at least 2 decades.
There is albeit one catch however: you can do this transition to BF only if your landline connection has been migrated to the NGN switching at the exchange level.
Tl;Dr My intention through this post is to raise awareness, but also to enquire if anyone can give more details.
Particularly about how to know if our landlines (and local BNSL exchange) have completed their migration to the NG switched network?
