BSNL FTTH
I have taken BSNL FTTH connection some 20 days back and everything seemed right until this morning. When I woke up, the 3 lights of POWER PON and Wifi were glowing Green as expected, but soon when I tried to connect to the wifi, it said Connected, not internet
Then I contacted my Bsnl Exchange Officer for the same and he asked of the lights and then asked me to bring the ONU back to the exchange and I did what was asked.
He then reset it with all the settings and asked me to put some trail username password that they use for testing. And it showed Status up but as soon as I typed my username and password back in my home it showed WAN STATUS DOWN(but it again showed status UP for that testing username and password)
So he said, that issue is with your id or number and then raised a docket for the same. And it hasn't been resolved till now as it is stuck in Some BSNL noida office.
So how can that happen? I mean how can my number or id be blocked. Reasons? And how to tackle it?

Did you pay the first bill that would have been generated around the first week of this month?

I recieved an sms which read Your bill till 1Sept is 260 and the due date to pay this is 24Sept(because I have got the new connection on 24 August itself)
However on taking the connection the exchange officer has told me to pay the bills after each month and that too to him directly in exchange.
So I ignored that sms because my monthly plan is of ₹850
PS: I have already paid some security bill of 850 before I was given the connection.
Also why to pay the first bill after one week? Kindly tell me in detail

Pay the bill online at portal.bsnl.in

Why does he want directly in exchange? Pay it online dude. I smell something fishy in his suggestion
But whether Online or Offline, why to pay the bills of first week? Like I have to pay the bills on monthly basis no?
Also, the sms read that Last day to pay the bills is 24 Sept! How can that be a reason of my no internet?

@BunnyFine BSNL billing cycle is from 1st of month to last day. The bill that you got is from 24th to 31st August. Next will will come for 1-30 September. So you have to pay this bill. But since due date is 24th, this can't be the reason of disconnection. There's some other issue. I also had similar issue where my ID wouldn't work, but they fixed it.

@BunnyFine I don’t know what the problem was, but after they found out that the problem was with my account, they fixed it next day. Before that they spent one day in other things like using different ONT, upgrading firmware on my ONT, changing VLAN ID etc. Then they used an account bsnltest or bbtest or something like that, which worked. That’s when they realised problem is with my account and fixed it next day.

I’m sorry this is a bit off-topic question but I’m wondering if someone with malicious intent get’s hold of the PPPoE credentials of a BSNL FTTH customer, can they use it in any means that will prevent the actual customer from authenticating themselves with BSNL uplink servers or knocking them out of connectivity?

Someone else on this forum had that happen to them yes. You have to be under the same LCO for that I believe, and they'll also need your VLAN id. Your LCO probably have both of them.
You can change your default password on https://fuptopup.bsnl.co.in

Login with your user id and default password (which is "password") and there'll be an option to change it.

@skepticCyberMortal IP address 64.64.64.64. No internet

^this and my friend actually confirmed it himself, he logged in with his credentials on his neighbours bsnl ftth and it worked. 🤷‍♂️. I can't check, there are no bsnl ftth users nearby.

It does make sense, compared to ADSL we're not getting dedicated lines, just a single fiber backend only divided into VLANs. Anyone can connect to the same line with your VLAN id and PPPoE credentials to use your internet. If they connect while you are offline, you can't connect either. BSNL only allows one active session.
