Hi

Off late I'm getting DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error message when I try to open jio sites using my own router. I'm basically on Airtel Xstream fiber connection with 200Mbps plan. Here is some background info of what I did in the last 2 weeks. Hope that didn't lead to this error.

Earlier the Huawei GPON HG8145V5 used to be in bridge mode. For some router checking purpose, I opted for plan change option via Airtel Thanks app. It didn't happen for few days. I raised a complaint. Later I changed the Huawei GPon to router mode (assuming plan change did not happen due to bridge mode) and plan change was done. Assuming that plan changes (to check few plans) will not happen if modem is in bridge mode, I kept it in router mode with WiFi switched off.

I connected this to my router using lan cable and it got connected automatically. This connection setup resulted in double NAT. The WAN IP for my router is 192.168.1.XX from Huawei GPon. The devices that connect to my router are in 192.168.50.YY series.

The main issue is I'm unable to connect to Jio sites from app or on browser. It's throwing up DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error. I don't know if this is because of double NAT scenario or not. So I did some research and then added 1.1.1.1 in the Dns field under dhcp of my router and the Jio sites opened. Is this correct method.

Also, When I connected my wireless printer to my router using WPS, it took some attempts to connect. This did not happen earlier. While printing, it took much time for a single page printing.

Are the two issues (Jio websites and slow printing on wireless printer) due to double NAT setup or Is Airtel blocking Jio sites.

Mods : Pl move this to appropriate location if its irrelevant here. Thanks in advance.

easy way to isolate this is to keep your router in AP mode and connect lan-lan (instead of lan-wan currently) to Huawei to avoid double nat while still keeping the ONT in router mode 😕
