I had paid 3 months advance for the 999 plan (200Mbps) for Xstream fiber. 2 days later, the technician came and installed V-Fiber.

After asking, he said that Xstream fiber lines have not been installed in my area yet. Then after arguing with the sales rep, got to know that he himself didn't know that fiber lines are not present in my area.

He started convincing that the 40Mbps V-Fiber is better than my current 150Mbps from Hathway and that I should wait till Xstream fiber comes. I refuse and he asks me to send an email to 121 saying that I want to cancel my connection. I did the same and requested full refund of the total amount (3.5K).

After not receiving any mail replies from 121, I call 121 and explain it again. CC guy says that he will raise a request for cancellation and that the full amount will not be refunded since I have had the connection for 2 days even though I have not used a single byte from Airtel and have switched off their modem.

Another CC guy calls later and says that no amount will be refunded and that he will just close the connection and says it is "company policy"

So far I have not received any SMS regarding cancellation from Airtel. I am not sure what to do now.

On enquiring, the local technician says that fiber will be available in a month since nearby area has already received fiber lines. Should I wait and simply waste the rental amount that I have paid?

Any suggestion from you guys?

Airtel presence on twitter has been helpful in escalation.

Else you can drop a mail to their nodal officer for your area with adequate proof.

That was entirely their fault if you opted for fiber. They should totally refund you. what the heck

if nothing works, send a legal notice claiming fraud and also state that you are going to file a police complaint against the sales representative & all the airtel persons in your city. post the same thing on twitter also. also call the sales rep and tell him to be prepared to be arrested for fraud.

Hope it doesn't go to that extent. Just want my money back now...

Why did you let them install.. you shouldn't have installed it and asked for cancellation. I've done they with Jio. Earlier this year I applied for Jio fiber, paid money. Later came to know about upload speed cap, cancelled it. Got the full money back. Got Jio again when they revised their plans.

You can change plan to 499 one. Ask customer care to do it. 40mbps easily gives 50mbps speed. If ok with it.

Now they have raised a disconnection service request in their app. The refund part is not clear though. One guy says it will take 45 days to be processed and another guy says there will not be any refund.
