Is there any scientific or technical significance to the number 3300? All the major ISP's seems to be afraid of crossing the 3300 GB mark.

Must be some astrological reason

@Lobogris
Jio, Airtel, Tata all found the same 3300 figure so catchy? It must be something else. For that matter, 3333 looks even more catchier.

Anyway all ISP's are hiding 3300 GB condition deep inside their terms & conditions. So why'd they try to make it catchy?

Atleast in this aspect, Jio's competitors could have thought of something different. They could have given 3301 or a different number than Jio.
But the competition is blindly copying Jio in everything. No wonder, then, they are always in reaction mode. How long can they keep reacting to Jio??

Airtel is offering 3333 GB from long...are any commercial usage policies defined by TRAI?

Airtel is 3333GB not 3300GB

"3. It is clarified and stated that this benefit is only meant for personal and non-commercial use, and is not intended for any commercial use, or special or enterprise plans. The Fair Usage Policy for the unlimited plans is capped at 3333 GB post which customers can enjoy unlimited speeds at 1024 KBPS."

Tata had 3300GB and Airtel had 3333GB cap in their ‘unlimited’ plans before Jio came up with unlimited. Jio copied it. I also asked the same thing on 31 august itself, is this number random or has a story?

These calculations are based on average speed which a user can expect over a duration of one month. Because usage varies, has its peaks and troughs, so an assumed average speed of a month is used for calculating data usage.

They have taken a baseline of 10mbps or 1.25 (10/8) MBps constant and stable speed for a duration of one month.

10mbps x 60s x 60m x 24h x 31d=2,67,84,000mbit
2,67,84,000Mbit/8=33,48,000MB
33,48,000MB/1000(or 1024)=3348GB

So the isps round it off too 3300 or 3333GB.
