Hi All,

Firstly this post "may" be a repeated one asking about already discussed stuff on this forum ! So sorry for that. However I was able to search few of my queries and get answers but not for all. So here are couple of things I need clarification on:

*After a lot of struggle with Excitel, I switched back to ACT(1M plan as of now) and parallelly recharged Jio(999 1M Plan) to see which one suits me the most.

1. Just wanted to know if there is a guest network available in Jio Router ? (JCO4032), I see the profiles and access points but all looks same except for the names, Also if there is a guest network will I be able to isolate guests from accessing the Jio router ? (LMUI is there but that doesnt work for me even when the option "Block access via Wifi is enabled)

2. Jio being able to snoop into their routers(Jio ONT), what is the point of using a personal router connected via wan port from Jio ONT ? (I cant even use guest network here) Also the devices connected to the personal router show up in the ui of jio router, rather what i expect is that the jio router should only show 1 client connected i.e., Personal Router ? (If this is not how it is, then the point of using personal router with Jio ?Clarify this please)

3. I used to have 100Mbps ACT connection(Hyd) and with power discount applied the final pice is around 6400 per 6M, and the Jio costs me 7000 for 6M Gold Plan(15days free in both Act and Jio)

BreakDown is Like:

Act 100Mbps: 6400+Subscriptions(Sunnxt/Hotstar Vip/Zee5) = 6400+950(Half yearly) = 7350

Jio 150Mbps:
7000 with all subscriptions including Prime(which I have until feb'21 already) + calling(Everyone of us have mobile recharges so landline doesnt matter)

100Mbps should be fine for my 4k tv and one full hd tv. (Not used in parallel though)

Using Jio my biggest concern is "Getting Observed/Snooped by Jio" !! (Not to mention that I heard ACT too uses DPI for data mining, so its okay for me, but more than that its a kind of uncomfortableness with Jio which can actually control everything on ONT remotely, Jio CC reads out my Wifi names and every other details when i called them for a issue troubleshooting 😂, where as with ACT its ATLEAST like I can control at my router end !! 😂)

Your Valuable Suggestions please ??

Hey, regarding the 2., did you connect your Personal Router in bridge mode / AP mode?
I personally suggest using secondary routers in Router mode instead, so that the IP address for all connected devices will be assigned by the secondary router and not the Jio router. This way the Jio router will see only Personal Router.

3. If you are not a fan of OTTs then I suggest going to the ACT. I have used ACT service in Bangalore (for 1 year) and its great here. If the service goes down, they will get it repaired in a couple of hrs (less than that) after raising the ticket. After getting Jio I personally felt that Jio STB is not that useful until they start providing DTH connection to it. Changing channels (live channels) is a pain in Jio STB as it fetches only Internet TV, you will need to switch between Hotstar, sonyliv, voot for different channels. So I recommend you ACT over Jio.

I have connected my personal router in AP mode, also I have read here in few posts that Bridge mode is not available for Jio router as it requires Vlan id ? "Router mode" I dint get this and no idea, more details please ?

I have been using Act since 2012 512kbps onwards and never switched the connection until early 2020, they have a box installed at my home (7years ago around) and the speeds are pretty good, Right now for 100Mbps connection i get around 105Mbps on 5GHZ Wifi.

Agree with changing channels is a pain, for example though Zee channels are available in Zee5 they can only be viewed in Zee5 app but not on unified JioTV+ interface.

Not familiar with Netlink, see if dhcp is enabled on the router. Without bridging this will for sure cause double NAT (you'll lose automatic port opening from your side and maybe add some latency). Is DMZ available on jio ont?

Yes, Jio router can't be made Bridge mode. And no need to do that.
Connect your personal router to the LAN port of Jio Router, just turn off the WiFi in Jio Router.
Now in your personal router, Enable DHCP (now your router is on Router Mode)

Using Jio my biggest concern is "Getting Observed/Snooped by Jio" !!

Then stop using.

It's designed to control and look problems from customer excecutive side.
Without asking your details and what you changed in your router, they easily know.
You given address proff and they can see your address with geolocation.
Your photo is taken at time of connection.
All your data is monitored.

And stop using mobile phone too. All your calls and messages and scanned.
Even when i called some one, some times i can listen to other conversations. I need to disconnect and dail again.

if YOU are happy with ACT then stick with it
the 2 things which are better in Jio fiber are 1😛repaid connection stops in time unlike ACT who provides connectivity for 15 more days after YOU receive A bill which might bee good or bad depending on the person
2 gets full speeds on most of the websites
apart from this every other thing is just good in ACT

Do you work for Reliance/Jio ? 😛 (Just kidding)

True that they literally have everything they need from a customer, over that Facebook has its hand in Jio too 😂 In a month from now I shall stop using Jio as my 1M plan ends.

Regarding the "Other Conversations, Yea I too faced this but very long ago say like 2017-early 2018 but not later" Its better now atleast.

"And stop using mobile phone too. All your calls and messages and scanned."
Good one 😂 What do they want to do with my calls and messages, if yes let them 😁.

Anyways, Thanks for your suggestions brother 👍🏼

First one doesn't matter for me as In such scenarios I just disconnect the Lan to avoid any usage(Never experiences this though) but still a valid point.

Second thing, as I stated the ACT switch box is set up at my home so I generally get full speed of my plan.

Thanks for your points too.

Yeah i work for jio. 😛 (Just kidding)

Those are allegations from others local operators to stop using jio. Definitely uneducated will belive that .
Every operator has your data.

"Even in developed countries some people belived that corona virus is spreading from 5G towers and burnt them. "

Finally.. Act is good in service and fast in hyderabad. Used that from when they started. First its "Beam Broadband". Act purchased it and changed the name.

Go for Act.
thank for reading and replying bro 😛
