Is Airtel Thanks app showing 499 plan for Xstream Fiber connections?

I had to call 121 & talk to an agent to downgrade to the 499 plan on fiber connection. luckily the cc guy immediately changed the plan without asking me to use the app

Based on my suggestion to a relative - asking them to replace frequently not working for days BSNL connection - with either Jio or Airtel lower plans, they decided to apply for Airtel - I got an update later, but the person who visited said why not go for Fiber as its good but only higher plans are there. They said they are looking for only 499 plan & he said you will get VDSL with a minimum of 16 mbps plan, max of 40 mbps. They still went ahead and BSNL has been a no-show for a while.

Not sure if they dont have fiber at 499 or they are simply trying to push higher plans

Ok. Not sure if I should open a new thread - Got a call today, stating that my connection is getting a free upgrade to Airtel Fiber & the technician will be calling in a short while & replacing the modem for "free". No one actually called up later.

Thinking if I need to be watchful of something here.

P.S. I too have the same 499 plan currently what my relative got and was told no Fiber plan at 499.

Right. So, there is a possibility that Fiber is just coming up and I have managed to get it earlier. They live like 1 km away.

not sure if airtel is still giving dumb onu. if you are happy with your connection resist unless you can get a dump onu 🤔

Well there were some issues off late that, line not clear and some disconnections. So may want to see what this brings.

I was confirmed by three different airtel persons, including the local lineman, that when fiber becomes available in my area, the connection will be upgraded free of cost incl change of modem.
But the lineman also informed that Airtel has reduced the number of lineman during covid and he has to now cover a radius of about 5-6 km. Same may be the case in your place, so it may take a while for the local lineman to call you.
499 plan is also applicable to fiber, but the sales team have been advised to "dissuade" people from opting to it, which may explain the response your relative got.
