In the grand scheme of things, for them it's always about winning the war, not just the immediate battle in front of them. Employees are only pawns: hire when you need extra labour, fire when you can't afford them anymore.
IPL is a thing watched by millions. Imagine the advertisement revenue and potential? If you remember, what launched Idea and Vodafone were their relentless ads "What an Idea Sirji" and the fun to watch Zoo-Zooz.
Now its a vertically and horizontally integrated company. The next logical step obviously is to launch (relaunch) with lots of pomp and splendour (like how Jio did in 2016).
Only time will tell if their "network Integration" - which, at the scale it was done, was the first in the world - will prove to be a boon or a bane.
This idea has been around for a few years now (I had mentioned this idea in another thread) but v difficult to implement for various reasons. Converting debt to equity is the easier part what comes after is the difficult part. Questions will be asked if fresh money can be found to invest in this entity why was the same not done for BSNL, MTNL?
