So I was thinking about getting the Airtel fiber and I saw on YouTube that the router is free and we have to pay ₹1000(upto 100 metres) and ₹5 or something per meter after or we can pay 6 months in advance and only then we don't have to pay for the installation but when I called the local airtel cable provider for providing me the fiber connection he said that I have to pay ₹1000 for installation and ₹2000 for the router and if I wish to get my router for free then I have to pay 6 months of advance rental. Also the airtel fiber terminal is just outside my house, nearly 50 meters away.
Can someone please clarify?
P.S: I live in Srinagar and we have the same plans as everyone all over India.

Also others are also facing the same thing.

Filled up request for Airtel Xstream Fibre Bundle offer yesterday, and executive visited today morning. The details provided on their website or news forums is not complete and here are more details as provided by the executive:

1. Rs 499 is available only as 1/6/12 months pack
2. Rs 799 and above is available as 1/3/6/12 months pack
3. Hence, if you are planning Rs 499 pack, you have to pay Rs 1000 installation charges with monthly pack or go with Rs 799 3 month pack or Rs 499 6 months pack
4. Xstream box is NOT provided as part of the sign up offer. You have to take up the connection and later raise a request for Xstream box on their mobile app
5. OTT Apps subscription ONLY if you take XStream box
6. XStream box its MANDATORY to have additional DTH connection and is handled by a separate DTH team. The broadband executive is only responsible for selling the Fibre connection. Xstream Box and DTH related connection details he asked to follow up with DTH team after taking his Fibre connection

You have to basically pay for 6 months advance rental for airtel to give you the router free of costs, even after paying 6 months advanced rental you will have to pay ₹1000 at the time of installation. I have recently applied for 100mbps plan so i had to pay ₹5234 as 6 months advance rental and they give 7.5% off on the rental for 6 months. I will also have to pay ₹ 1000 at the time of installation.
This is valid for all LCO cities.

If the area is serviced directly by Airtel, then only advance rental is payable for free installation and router. If area is not directly serviced by Airtel and serviced through LCO, then 1000 installation charges are payable to LCO in addition to advance rental. You can say it is the additional commission of the LCO.
