My Hyundai car has done about 37,000 KMs in Delhi. Bumper to bumper traffic areas. The clutch is a bit hard, it's not smooth. When you press it, you can feel the friction and something grinding a little.

Now, my question is, will this affect the engine performance? I mean, would it feel hesitant and would the gear shifts be a little jerky? Plus, less fuel economy? I've been experiencing these issues. I've checked the OBD errors, there is none. Do you think it's time to change the clutch?

P.s putting reverse gear makes a ghad sound 3 out of 5 times, and it's a bit difficult to engage it at times.

yup. i spend more on yearly service as well. have considered selling it but that made no financial sense. makes more sense to keep it for 6-7 more years and then do whatever the government allows you to do with vehicles reaching 15 years of age at that time.

diesels already have a 10 year shelf life in metro cities. god knows what rules they would have 4-5 years from now. brother recently bought a second hand high end car and i believe it is already five years old. he would have to sell it in 2-3 years and overall it seems like such a waste of monie.

Diesel cars make sense only when you drive 1000+ kms a month and plan to change your car every 4-5 years.
That's what my family has been doing for ages. But nowadays it's becoming more of hassle coz of the changing regulations and diesel price almost getting equivalent to petrol.
I had plans to get rid of baleno as dealer offered me 4.5 lakhs trade in value for a S-Cross.
If this pandemic ain't happened I would have gone for it.

@vignesh_venkatesan Besides fuel economy and space, what were the reasons you chose Baleno?

I'm getting Polo 2015 (P) night blue that has done 42,000 KMs for 3.5* lacs, but I am leaning against it because it's a single driver car basically.

I chose baleno coz
A. I have a relative who's in the higher ups of a major dealer here in chennai.
So I got some discounts and assurance of good service experience.
B. Cheap spares
C. I liked the looks and I had to drive it everyday to college, so fuel economy was also major reason.
I really wanted to get a polo but decided against due to the high cost and expensive spares.
My dad had a vento at that time which was causing way too many troubles.
P.s. 3.5 lakhs seems to be good price for 42k polo.

It definitely will extend the life of clutch. Let's see the long term reviews. I think venue is the only car that has it, right?
Not necessarily. Some people would be lazy to change gears, so the car will drive a lot more with slipped clutch which would reduce the life of the clutch. I don't expect the clutch to last longer than a fully manual car unless someone is a really poor driver who always rests his left foot on the clutch.
