Jio pushed high speed broadband towards the customers. They nudged people to get it. My dad takes no interest in broadband and all and last year he was like "should we get Jio, it's is really high speed internet, great thing to have". I said BSNL is fine (we had that then). non tech savvy people were taking about broadband and streaming, thanks to Jio marketing. Before that, only a few people understood the need of broadband in 4G times. Jio went to people even in small cities and said "hey, try this, you'll like it. it's called high speed internet and streaming is 'free'". The nudge was powerful and paid off.
Can't really blame Jio, at least for wired broadband. I agree that they did unethical business in 4G. But their wired broadband pricing is not at all predatory. Airtel have themselves to blame for neglecting small towns and cities. They shouldn't cry about unfair practice by Jio now. They had all the time to expand to every nook and corner of the country when they had monopoly of being the largest private ISP.
@Smh in my city, they’re giving through LCO and one has to get minimum 6 month plan + 1000 cash as installation. I was actually waiting for that as the airtel guy said he will install in 1st week of sept. But then Jio came with Dhan dhana dhan 2.0 and here come Jio guys, installing at my place as I type this.
Yeah sure, their service can be garbage depending on LCO but most people in my area opt for them because its cheap and speeds are perfectly fine for YouTube and streaming (until it rains and all the ethernet users get screwed over because LCO isn't willing to provide fiber).
