Hi,

I just got Excitel Fiber. But I was surprised to see a 3rd SSID www.excitel.com being shown. I cannot see any option how to disable it. Does any one aware of the same.

Thanks

@idgaf , how did you telnet to the router. It's giving me below error:

"Connecting To 192.168.1.1...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed"

Edit: Figured it out, I had another AP which had same IP 192.168.1.1 configured. Connected directly to titanium 2122a and was able to disable the "www.excitel.com" SSID using telnet.

Thanks a lot @idgaf for providing us the solution 🙂

I was messing around with titanium 2122a, seems like you can easily disable the www.excitel.com SSID via telnet. Telnet to your router and type the following commands

tcapi get Wlan_Entry1 SSID
Check if the SSID shown is actually www.excitel.com or not otherwise change Entry* number.
tcapi set Wlan_Entry1 EnableSSID 0
tcapi wlan_commit

You tried on which router? I have Optilink router, will it work on this?

I connected my neighbour wifi using www.excitel.com SSID with pwd: 11223344 , and logged into his router.
Here i can easily change his wifi password.

********************
I just wanted to inform that this is a major vulnerability by excitel.
*I have richerlink router and i disabled my www.excitel.com SSID. But how to disable my neighbour's SSID. He is having GX Router.
Help!!! Anybody??
Thx

I have got Syrotech device.
There is no option to backup/restore configuration.

I can login to web interface at 192.168.100.1. But telnet fails.
telnet 192.168.100.1
Connecting To 192.168.100.1...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Is nobody going to say a word on mentions of Baidu, Siro and other Chinese websites in config file of Syrotech router

Has anyone tried removing those URLs?

Excitel is losing it's credibility now.

I have not looked at the config of Syrotech router. However, it pretty clear most of these chinese ONUs share the same firmware underneath. If a vulnerability is found, it will affect all these devices.

My general advice is to disable routing in these ONU's and use them in bridge mode with a personal router downstream of the ONU.

For those having problem connecting / Telnet to the router perform either of the step :
1. Directly connect to router using LAN and then telnet
2. Or restart your router then telnet
Above two steps will be sufficient otherwise try using another device and perform above steps.

Whenever I get the error, I perform either of the step to get error resolved.

My router: Genexis GX router

and Thanks a lot @idgaf for sharing the solution

im also unable to telnet into 2122a, tried multiple times but keep getting same error.

Code:
Connecting To 192.168.1.1...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed.

i had to disable 2ghz AP to get rid of it.

I tried both ways but the telnet is not responding. It seems Excitel got to know about this workaround and maybe disabled general telnet access in the latest firmware. Following are the details of my ONU:
  • Device Gateway Type: Titanium-2122A
  • Hardware Version: C40-210
  • Software Version: T2122-1.19EXU
  • Firmware Time: Apr 22 2021 11:58:53
Unfortunately, I don't have the option to export the config so I'm stuck with the vulnerable AP running on my network. I also noticed that they have recently changed the password for the 'excitel.com' AP. Will have to check if the new password works on all APs with the same name.

No man... He has an old router which was being provided by Excitel. He has a router of RicherLink I guess and now they are providing routers of GX Group. In these new routers, the firmware is locked. You can only change a few settings but everything else is locked like disabling this second SSID. I will not have any problem if I get the password of this 'www.excitel.com' ssid's password. I would disable then my original 2.4 SSID and use www.excitel.com only. But the issue is no one knows its password too. One more thing I wanted to ask is, are you guys getting difficulties with its 2.4ghz bandwidth as, on my router, only one device is able to get internet connection from 2.4ghz bandwidth. If I am connecting more than one, then the other device gets connected to the Wifi but it cannot use the internet. I've tried it in all ways and it can be any device, whichever connects first, gets the internet, others don't.
I wanted to use my own router but there is now no option to opt for an ONU. I know that their plans are cheap but this is just the wrong way for cutting costs with cheap routers. Now I have connected my old TP-Link Archer C6 as a wired repeater and closed Excitel router's SSIDs.
How to connect a wired repeater?
I have a gx 2122a and a c7 with me
