Is Airtel still offering retention broadband plans?
My area was upgraded to fiber by Airtel only after Jio introduced fiber in my apartment complex. When i placed a request with Airtel for upgradation to fiber i was told that discount on the plan would be removed. When the bill came, however, i was surprised to note that the discount had been continued and the monthly price was exactly same as Jio's erstwhile bronze plan. Maybe they remove/retain discounts after ascertaining availability/non-availability of sizeable competition in the area.

Well Airtel is laying the Fiber lines in my area since before covid, though the work has just resumed again sometime back. Not sure how long they'll take and I'm fine with Jio Fiber for now

I think airtel should either offer unlimited data on all plans and reduce the cost. Though there is a difference between airtel fiber and jio fiber in my area. Airtel took permission from RWA and laid the cables underground across the entire colony where as jio just used the street light poles to get fiber connection across the entire area. I wonder if this will cause any difference. Though from what I have seen Airtel ping time is quite better compared to jio.

Then did you allow the disconnection ?
I would like to try this. Will they call me at least before they actually disconnect ? There should be a chance to cancel the disconnection request.

They called me 2 times during office hours and then sent a text with a number for me to call back. I plan to call back today or tomorrow.

So got the refund for my connection which I had gotten disconnected. Its been a long 15+ years with Airtel lel.

I am their customer for 12 years. Today I got SMS saying, all my discounts will be removed because they are now upgraded my plan to UNLIMITED data. Can anything be done or do I need to disconnect Airtel?

@dragonball What is your plan speed and cost after discount? If its more than what Airtel offers for all, you could disconnect.
You may continue if the plan for you is on par with others. Broadband business is now a thin margin business thanks to Jio fiber. You can't expect discounts on standard plans.
