Currently on 100Mbps 750GB plan, for Mumbai Server I am getting around 90Mbps. However issue start when I want to download from the International server, for example, right now I am downloading PyTorch with a max speed of 2MegaBytes instead of ~9MegaBytes. If I do a speed test to Singapore server same thing Download speed is around 20-30Mbps while the upload is going till 86Mbps. Is it just I or everyone is facing this issue?

And can someone suggest good ONT (preferably non-Chinese)
Will BSNL change it for free without any reason(upgrade to gigabit ethernet, maybe)? (it's on rent)

Similar situation here.. Latency is fine but lot of packet loss.

Packet Loss at intermediate hops is fine. It's likely just dropping packets on purpose to prevent icmp flood.

Even if thats not the case you won't be directly connecting to these hops anyways.

Lol . Leave occasional packet loss. The routing is so bad, I see question marks everytime I try to traceroute . I mean the traceroute does not even take a path

When I call my area local BSNL guy (not LCO) he says that BSNL has best backbone compared to Jio and Airtel .😬. Maybe he was talking about Fiber distance they have laid

BSNL has connected NIXI to the private exchanges increasing the routes . I dont see any improvement to the major players like Fastly , Google , Facebook

Google services ping to BOM - 90ms minimum
Onedrive/Microsoft/ - 70-90 ms
Fastly BOM - 95 ms
AWS bombay - 93 ms minimum
Singapore goes above 150 everytime

I'd suggest WinMTR if you are on windows, windows traceroute mostly gives me question marks.

I don't think it's the peering at fault, it's rather BSNL's internal routing (or load balancing idk), they just take every packet on a pan india tour of all their routers before getting on the next network.

Yeah I experience that a lot . I have even named it now. Pan-India Packet Touring(PIPT) . Linux usually gives me question marks on mtr
My requests never go straight to Mumbai. First goes to Bangalore , then to Kolkata then Mumbai . Weird routing .

I will try that WinMTR

And I recently got to know that my local switch at the ISP is choking . I get horrible speeds from 11am to 3 pm . I decided to opt for 60 Mbps plan for a few days.

That's maybe because they have their core noc for south zone in banglore,

I understand the point of going to Bangalore as core NOC as I reside in Karnataka(my place just 230kms from Bangalore) . Why is Kolkata needed . It can be taken direct to Chennai Tata Route or Mumbai
