I am currently on a local isp which let me use my own router and a GPON device they provided. If I switch to airtel, will they let me use my own router (mi router 3g) and gpon onu(which I will buy considering the compatibility)? Does it use a simple PPPOE on client side to let them use internet or do they use Nokia/Huawei device ID?

u can use ur own router but ont will be applied by them

you are talking about this right? so I will have to keep its wifi disabled and use it as only ONT.

The Nokia device is a ONT + Router combined into one. It also has WiFi in it. But (like you would have guessed), its a crappy device (as a WiFi router). So in your own interest, you may want to invest in a good WiFi Access Point Router!

And you can configure the ONT in bridge mode as well (though some folks needed help from Airtel backend to get bridge mode working)
